starting 0-5 would really suck, so we don't want to do that that being said, all 4 of the "bot 4" teams last split had terrible starts last season and 2 of them ended up responding appropriately and ended the season strong. once we get things ironed out i expect rapid, massive improvement from my team. as you guys saw at the LCS relegation, i'm not the kind of person that lets their team focus on losses or mope. if nothing else we'll be the most confident 0-28 team ever 8) i feel a 2-3 start from us though. Thanks! I still think that according to that documentary you've got work to do to beat CLG on that "most confident 0-28 EVA" though.

Like I have nearly 50 games on him, haven't ran into any Cassio/Xerath/Syndra mains (Yet...) but it is just dumb how he gets 4 items and he's a god.
Good thing I ban him every game. Do you have movement speed runes? Ryze sprinters are the worse T_T

Edit: To OutLaw's response to my Khazix question, I've actually found decent success with Ori against him mid, but lately I've run into him a lot while I was trying out Diana. I always feel that I underestimate his lvl6 damage, likely because I don't take into account the bonus damage he gets by proccing his own passive with ult. How would you build against Kha mid usually? I've seen a lot of Dianas or mids in general build 2 drings/rush an armguard.

maybe its just me, but i feel like the majority of the time when you are playing against ryze just pick something that dicks him super hard in lane and he never really can reach that raid boss mode

and what would that be? people that pick cassio or xerath only for the sake of countering ryze and never played those champs will most likely get shit on.
My personal favourite is Orianna, good waveclear, can bully ryze relatively. Shove and roam and be almost as good late, as ryze.
Anivia is ok too, but even harder to play than cassio/xerath if you have limited xp with her.

edit: i feel like mordekaiser would still be a solid pick against him because he can push hard and tank stuff for days thoughts?

Does Cassio still counter him outside of early lane phase? I know a long time ago she used to, but then got her damage nerfed while Ryze got buffed. When I used to play the matchup (as Cassio) it only took Ryze a couple items before he can trade efficiently.
Every Ryze I see runs MS quints; they're just so strong on him.

I feel like Ryze is just a ticking time bomb. Doesn't matter how bad you shit on him in lane, if game gets to around 35-40 minutes he's gonna destroy most of your team.

Not even. Assuming he didn't die multiple times and isn't 25+ cs behind, once he has tear + ruby crystal + NMM he'll even straight up destroy those "counters" we just mentioned (cassio and kayle) 1v1 with his ult.

I usually beat Ryze with Cass, but the tipping point comes entirely soon for Ryze. You have to completely and utterly body slam him to keep him irrelevant, and against good opponents, it rarely happens.

Since beginning of S3, now that boots aren't a required start for mids, Ryze does not have a weak lane phase anymore (I've been saying this for months). This is a problem because, as people said, he is a ticking time-bomb. It's is very difficult to shut him down unless you really know what you're doing, he's bad, or you get a lot of jungler assistance. If HE gets a lot of jungler assistance, you may as well just curl up under your tower.
That said, he is still pretty susceptible to heavy pushers. I've had decent success with Viktor still. It can be tough to commit the heavy aggression necessary early because of mana, but around level 4 or 5, you start to hit a stride where your Q and E do enough to fend off Ryze and push. Unfortunately, you're still facing a Ryze, so your team has to make things happen in a timely fashion.
