Actually when I use reddit I avoid all the big subforums (including the lol one) because even the ones that don't allow images are pretty much people just repeating things they saw other people find funny because, logically, it must make them funny. Replace 'find funny' with 'receives upvotes' and that's the basic idea of reddit

Well, Elementz benched again. That happened.

According to the Leaguepedia twitter, Rhux is going to play for them at IPL5 and his performance will determine whether or not he keeps the starting position. I like Elementz, but I've seen a lot of people say he is probably the weakest link on the team now that Voyboy has been playing top lane. I don't mind them giving him a chance, he did win the SoloMid Tournament with them and played very well.

Can someone explain the solo tournament? I missed it.
And yeah we've all known for a long time that Elementz is one of the worst pro players when it comes to skill.

The SoloMid Weekly Invitational is the weekly online tournament tournament that Wombat casts and always gets DDOSd. A lot of teams don't take it very seriously, but it's kind of cool to see the NA teams play each other on off weeks between major LANs. Rhux subbed for them last week and they won and he looked pretty good with them.
Edit: Or do you mean the 1v1 tournament? That was something Curse put on, they had a 1v1 tournament and the winner got a chance to try out and become a part of the Curse team.

people still do this 1v1 stuff?
there was even a esl league for it like 2 years ago xD i thought it died off.

I am pretty sure Elementz can't even hit 2k Elo and unlike Regi, he is NOT the best support in the world.

Yeah the 1v1 tournament. I understand winning a 1v1 tournament means you might have high individual skill, but I don't see how it in any way is a reliable measurement for your performance as a support on a team. But still probably a step up from Elementz. And I watched some of the TSM weekly tournament and he seemed to do quite well.

Yeah, I agree the 1v1 tournament is kind of a dumb idea, that's why I was surprised by his performance TSM weekly tournament. A lot of people berate Curse for their roster changes, but the Voyboy change seems to be working out in their favor, and they haven't kicked Elementz off the team completely, if Rhux fails in epic fashion at a LAN event they can always bring him back (they have M5 in their group so we'll get to see how he handles playing against GoSu Pepper haha).

Confirmed on Saint's stream that M5 is having troubles lately, so we'll see :p

Seems like people really underestimate the importance of 1v1 skill. Things like mechanical skill, quick and accurate situation appraisal and decision making are key parts of winning a 1v1... and they are relevant in any role, and any stage of the LoL.

While I agree, it's just another single part like anything else. I'm sure there are plenty of mediocre 1v1ers on pro teams that do well because they are strong in other areas of the game. I don't follow single players close enough to name names, but like I said, it's just another part of the whole package.
However, I feel like 1v1 skill is kind of the most toxic, because it leads to the whole "OMG we lost even though I won top 13-0! How!!!!" solo queue mentality.

tbh i think cop is much worse than elementz but i guess since there's no better ad carry available they want to carry their bot lane with rhux and hope that he can do it. in that regard i understand this decision
|
The thing is, while there are some amazing ADs, they are very much reliant on their support for the early parts of the game. Cop has been stuck with Elementz for so long that it's hard to know how good he really is.

No, it's not hard to know. He's bad. I think so and so do many, many streamers, who frequently comment and laugh about it. While your argument is correct to an extent, it's not entirely true. A good AD with a bad support won't be able to win his lane if he's playing against an adc who has a good support (this relies on the champions but is mostly true), but I never said that Cop is bad because he loses lane. Even if it were Elementz' fault that he lost lane (which I dare you to give me an example of where this is true because I've never seen it happen before), Cop should never, ever die. Losing lane means being behind on cs, dying is his own fault. You can also look at aphromoo who plays tons of games with random supports and manages to win lane every single time. I guess this is going against my point at the top but it shows that you can overcome the badness of your support with skill. Cop is bad in laning phase and I've never seen him carry a game, largely because of his mediocre positioning and game sense.

Yeah but...Elementz is *really* bad. There are hundreds if not thousands of solo queuers better than him.

Does anyone have links to the vods when SV was playing with 0 elo? I remember watching some game recently, but cant find them on Owned. :<

While I agree Cop isn't S-tier or anything I wouldn't say he's trash, just not on the level of Aphro or Doublelift. Out of the two, Elementz was the one with a higher priority to be replaced. The soloq analogy doesn't really work when comparing him to the pro scene, even Aphro admitted he's way better in soloq because he capitalizes on people's mistake, but pro players make way fewer mistakes. Still, having a better support won't hurt Cop (unless they don't develop synergy). Also we'll see how M5 does at IPL5, they have historically had poor online showing but still beast and LANs.
|
He's a league worse than Aphromoo Doublift and Imaqtpie who are all really, really good. NA AD carries are a step above all the other roles. Cop is mediocre, and I have to close my eyes to call him even that. If you read my first post, though, I agree with you. There are no good AD carries on the market right now and the easiest way to fix their bottom lane is to have a good support carry him. Hopefully Rhux can do it.
