Well when you're looking at a tribunal case, the guy that picked a non standard champ and had one bad game causing him to go 0-3 (say he normally does well, like azingy on ap mid mao) and lose the game looks just as troll as the revive smite AP top yi who went 0-3. Even if the first one was legit trying but was on tilt. By picking a non standard champ that your team doesn't agree with and losing it LOOKS like trolling even when it isn't.

Although I know this isn't the case for a lot of people, personally I can tell if someone's trying or if someone's just trolling the shit out of people regardless of their champion picks. If it's the former, I'll usually be lenient and not report/pardon them unless they really pissed me off some other way. Also, you can usually check their LoLKing profiles and see if they regularly play those champs and are really just trying to make them work or if they're just trolling you. If anything, I get more pissed at the people who don't listen to advice even if it's their first time playing a champ in ranked or people who have like a 10% winrate with a champ but still stubbornly play those champs.

I've had some people doing "troll picks" like AP Eve post-rework, or support LeBlanc/Veigar end up doing pretty well. Besides, at TL we're home to some unconventional picks like Karma and hipster solo top Nunu.

I mean support Veigar, not solo mid Veigar. It actually ended up working really well since Veigar can stun you from pretty far and he has good burst even without that much farm.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying it's a good pick. Just saying it wasn't completely awful. Still pretty awful tho.

Okay support veigar sounds hilarious yet fun. Doesn't sound as enjoyable as an unkillable tank veigar though . Being able to 100->0 someone while being as tanky as singed is jusf so satisfying.

tank veigar just revolves around the principle that you don't really need any damage items beyond deathcap/void because you get so much 'free' ap from your Q. so you build banshee's, frozen heart, shurelias, whatever you want tanky, and deathcap/void, and lasthit with Q like crazy, and get infinite damage and be unkillable anyway

it was really good when locket was still in the game - but locket was amazing on everyone anyway

dfg/frozen heart/bveil/shurelia/void, dont even need the hat.

max e > w > q. farm ap with champ kills. maybe a couple ranks in q early if you feel you need it. max cdr = 2.5s aoe stun on <10s cd.

support veigar's decent you just need to go balls deep with an ad you communicate well/play well with.

i mean it still kinda blows but w\e.

(i've played a couple dozen games of both)

I've had that happen! Pick TF, get Fizz's every game.

In general people get way too tense from League at times, I guess it's just competitive nature and the ability to lay blame of failings on others makes folks crazy. Honestly just try to be polite and friendly even in the face of the rampant jerks they'll just rage harder and you can laugh at them.
