Korean communities are cautious because of how fragile E-sports scene in Korea is right now. If this "rumor" turned out to be true, it'd be the end of E-sports in Korea without fail. It doesn't help that Azubu's background has been very shady...

From what I gathered, there's a consensus among Korean gaming communities that Azubu is merely a dummy corporation. The most popular "rumor" that is going around in the communities is that a unknown Korean who's run into "issues" in financial investments in stocks created Azubu for the purpose of money laundering and make it look like Azubu is investing in E-sports. It seems that any topics regarding this issue in popular korean websites such as naver and daum are shut down immediately as soon as they pop up. Many in the communities are asking for answers but with Azubu threatening to use legal powers to stop these so-called "rumors", people are hesitant to pursue the issue. There you go. Also, many are linking the unknown Korean to one named Kim Suk Ki who is apparently on the interpol's wanted person list for the above mentioned "issues" in financial investments. Interesting, according to the Bundesanzeiger, the majority shareholder of Azubu is the "SYSK Limited, Road Town" (at least since Feb 2012). Googling that leads to this info from trademarkia where some keywords are definitely financial services.

Azubu is the main sponsor of the OGN LoL tournaments, they sponsor the 2 most successful Korean teams and Violet in SC2. I don't think their involvement is SO BIG that if they had to pull out the Korean eSports scene would die.

E-sports in Korea will be severely diminished and will eventually die if the rumor is true. I don't think you really understand anything about how E-sports in Korea works. Let's say the rumor is true. In the case that the rumor is true, the fact that OGN, the most popular gaming channel in Korea and the primary contributor to the growth of E-sports in Korea, let a relatively unknown company (Azubu) that turned out to be just a dummy corporation used for money laundering sponsor two of their tournaments will be a big blow to the integrity of OGN and the legitimacy of E-sports in Korea. Just in case you also didn't know about a certain Ministry of Gender Equality threatening to shut down E-sports already in Korea, if the rumor turned out to be true, it will certainly happen so damn right Koreans are going to be cautious.

Frost, credible source and translation or just drop it because unless you do, your posts about azubu are as credible as me saying that the finals was matchfixed.

Lol, no way esports would die. Just take a hit. It has done so before at the hands of WC3 map editing ;-)

It disgusts me that they do blind pick for deciding matches.

I LOVE the blind pick idea actually it's hilarious. Give both teams their best comps let em duke it out. It's a good change just for 1 game, I think, but everyone seems to hate it and automatically assume that I SHOULD hate it and i'm retarded for not hating it but I don't understand it.

It's because there are a lot of people like me who consider the draft phase and ability to outpick the enemy team extremely crucial and a great display of skill and knowledge. Blind pick robs me of the joy of watching the draft happening, not to mention it introduces certain amount of luck as far as picks go (just randomly get a teamcomp that is specifically good against the opposing teams one).

I actually think it allows for greater mind games in champ select. But so far noone has been ballsy to come up with some insanely gay comp just for the Blind Pick in mind. meh

You had 4 games of draft mode. Besides, you have every other game of every tournament to watch ppl draft. Blind picking in a skill as well.
Also, they basically pick the same comps anyway, with some minor variations based on bans.
