Just a dolphin? Oh, ok. What about the one where Christopher Walken is being interviewed for the census? That one gets me every time. Cowbell still has to be his best, imo.

I've always been pretty interested and want to do this. They're asking for a 10-min. recording of you casting a game to send in for tryouts. So TL what would you recommend? 1) Should I go for colour over game knowledge? More play-by-play or analysis? It might be hard to get a lot of both in over a 10-minute period. 2) You can cast any game, so ideally I'd like a recording with lots of great action...can anyone recommend a game? (Could be a recording of yours/pros/randoms/anything.) 3) Since it's a recording you can technically prepare what you're going to say before you do it....but I figure that's bad form. Should I watch the game and practice casting it before recording or just do it on the fly (adds to the excitement..)? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try to spectate a scrim and cast that. Chauster was commentating MiG versus TSM last night so maybe loco can give you the hookup to cast a future scrim ^_^ You'd have to select the best 10 minutes of the game though if there's a limit ![]()

1) Only focus on one thing, but do it properly. Whatever you feel better with. 3) Record a shoutcast when you first watch it, and then record it again when you watch it a second time. Then pick the better one. Maybe you can cut like 2 times 5 minutes out of a full game cast? I'd rather do a full game cast and then send them a part of that than only casting a 10 minute part.

Hopefully your first one is good though because you have to cast live ![]() And if you feel like one of the common areas of casting is subpar (anaylsis/knowledge vs play-by-play/excitement) just focus on the better one. You'd have to do some self-anaylsis to decide whether that's the better course.

Hmm....I like that idea actually. I'm not sure if they wanted a 10-min straight section or not....I'll ask though. Does anyone have any game recommendations or recordings that I could use? Otherwise I'll just probably head to league of replays and find a recommended game or something.

During fights just play-by-play. Best approach is probably showing you can do both because I think different phases of the game require different casting. Usually this is accomplished by a duo but it would be good to demonstrate you can do either ![]() Pretty much exactly this. It's why football commentary sucks and SC2 commentary is great. In football they're always trying to seem super professional and in between plays they'll just say random uninteresting shit because they have nothing to fill time: e.g. "That young man over there is a real football player," or "you've gotta score points to win the game." Day9 and Husky don't give a shit about being professional so instead they just try to make it fun, when there's not something occurring in the game they'll talk about something fun or funny. Keep on top of the action, but if there's nothing going on, don't pretend that there is.

Keep on top of the action, but if there's nothing going on, don't pretend that there is. As an addendum: In high level play there is "always" something going on even in the most boring / uninteresting parts of the play (10 champions chilling in mid poking each other). Usually both teams are waiting for the other to make a mistake (move out of position, use too much mana, etc.) so at minimum you should point this out as this is great for newer players / those who don't really play the game to just hear and make a note of. But like Kepael noted, these are the prime moments to insert humor or discuss something else so don't dwell too long on this but do make sure to mention it.
