Does anyone know if they are scheduling the LoL finals on Saturday night? Or will they be after the SC2 finals on Sunday?

I really hope the finals dont conflict.

Id love for you to put together a team and take on CLG. Id be amazed if your team got a kill.

Happy they are adding a MOBA game (that's what genre right?), but i hope that when DOTA2 is released they get that instead because i personally don't find LoL that fun in comparison to dota.
Now they just need to add a Fighting game (cough Street Fighter cough).

I play LoL so call me a fan boy, but while many claim HoN/Dota/Dota2 are more competetive, LoL has the most players by far. This, more than anything else, will set it apart, at least where MLG is concerned. And for once, popularity is a good thing =D (At least in my eyes).

No, thats not true, maybe if you dont count China (dota is really really big in china) they are kinda equal, but if you count china is not close.

LoL has more potential as a spectator sport than sc2 (just my opinion)

I don't know where you see this potential from, but the game is still so under-developed as an Esport I can't see it being spectator-friendly. If you want a spectator friendly UI, SC2 is a clearly a good example, but also look at hon's spectator UI.. popouts of the items when everyone someone buys it... good detailed info on the stats from last hits, g/m, and just very informative and spectator-friendly. Furthermore, the lack of a pause function really makes LoL a joke when compared to any game such as this where one game could easily take 30+ minutes and restarting a game is a very controversial thing to do.

I'm not a HoN fanboy who hates LoL, seeing as I play both at a high level but the two games have issues that will stop them from being successful in the esports scene unless things change. S2 has a horrible esports department and marketing that they just lagged in player base and will never truly bring enough players or anywhere near LoL to make HoN a heavily-supported game. (remember advertising is everything when it comes to sponsors). Riot also runs LoL as a business and the game was 100% never intended to be concentrated as a esport at the start If you want to argue this, you'll have to explain the lack of a pause, when the bane of dota was the fact that pausing/reconnecting was impossible.. which was btw what made HoN very friendly to dota players. This is also ignoring the fact that they need to have a special server where all heroes are available and observer. Also you need to download a third-party program to get replays? This definitely does not seem to be the making of a game with esports in mind. Most esports-oriented games will try to start people on even-footing and let the skills take care of the rest, not provide perks in which people need to purchase or play for a while to earn. Riot runs LoL like a business, which is fine, but they haven't been and need to start making changes to the game that makes it spectator-friendly and develop it towards being a esport.

Potential being the key word... Any team based game has way more potential as an esport... Look at cs 1.6... look at even WoW. WoW arena was pathetic as an esport, and blizzard made it impossible to continue promoting it at lans... but it got more viewers than any other esport game.

Do you know about a game called BW? The most successful esport in the world. No game, let alone team games, right now (maybe except for SC2 with time) comes close to having the potential to mirror its success as an esport.

So much hate.....sigh.
Eventually people will learn I suppose, or at least find a new target.
No one seems to remember that for the first 6 months people treated SC2 the same way...

I hope they realize a bo7 in LoL is going to take a minimum of 2.5 hours because a game is about 35-45 minutes at the level I play. ( I've never actually watched pros play- very boring to watch imo, but extremely fun to play) Well i guess it is only 4 teams so not too many games anyways. Hope it works out for them.. but i mean DotA 2 is coming out- why pick up LoL now?

I never understood why MOBA tournaments were any more then bo3. As a player, I can relate to the notion of "we got counter-comp'd, therefore deserve a second chance, etc" but as a spectator I never really had the energy to watch more then 2-3 MOBA games straight because it's so boring and repetitive.

You'd imagine that the same would apply to SC2, but for some reason I can watch it all day. (err, maybe for like 4 hours).

It's the normal MLG extended series, so it's just like 2 bo3's with maybe a possibility of 1 extra game (compared to 2 bo3) if it goes 2-0 in pool play and end up 4-3.

It is exciting to see another game being added to the MLG line up, especially since it is another computer game. However, I do not think that LoL is incredibly fun to watch. It has a large fan base, and that is something it has going for it, but in terms of spectating I think the numbers are all it has going for it. I am not sure that having it at MLG is going to boost the player/spectator base of the game at all.

Again, it's great that MLG is adding another game, but I hope it doesn't take too much away from SC2. I hope the people who watch it and play it stay loyal and help more people to get into it so we can continue to see the game grow in the esports scene.

Well, MOBAs generally aren't that fun to watch for people who don't play them. There's so much presumed knowledge that you have to know and the laning phase isn't the most watchable either, I suppose. I really don't think LoL will make it as a popular esport, and perhaps not DotA 2 either. I love playing LoL (more than DotA or SC2), but it's just not watchable imo
