If Taric's not up front taking damage and hitting things, and if your team falls even the slightest bit behind, Taric becomes so much weaker than Soraka. Soraka has a ranged attack for laning, mana for her lanemate without sacrificing a summoner, a heal with a component that's useful if she's not taking damage, and an AoE, mapwide ultimate. Soraka's heal gives a sizable armor boost to the champion she heals, and her passive is 16 MR to those near her. Taric has a melee attack that gives him mana (less and less practical as the need for giving up farm exacerbates), a heal with a longer CD than Soraka or Janna's that only has a secondary effect if he's taking damage, a strong stun with an incredibly slow projectile speed, and 2 auras, one of which gives armor or a nuke / armor debuff and the other of which heals him and gives AD. Taric still wants to be good, but he offers nothing that any solo queue team really wants over a sidelane Sion, and Soraka has way more ability to turn the game back around than him. Having played Soraka a lot until deciding to uninstall out of frustration with leavers + feeders in the same ranked game 2 games in a row, I really don't know why i'd want to pick Taric over her anymore. Taric's tanky, but he has to be tanky - if he's not, he can't do his job. He's better off spending money on defensive stats and CDR than AP, because AP only really benefits his Q. She even does a better job of stopping Flash than he does, because Silence isn't reduced by Merc Treads and she doesn't have a travel time on it. | ||
