I hope Liquid wins, but I feel they're not good with how the meta shifted to korean style since MSI MGA.
If they at least get a qualifying stop, that would be great and deserved for the results they had in 2015. They looked to me like the best EU team this year.

I don't like Bob/dignitas much (they feel to me like a patch team), but I guess they have good chances of winning this.

I hope TL wins, but i think N'avi could turn this into a 1st place easily.

I really just hope BoB, PiP and Fnatic will get fucking rekt. Like seriously it's amazing how many shitters those 3 teams have (and also extremely toxic/angry players who are the cancer of EU HL)

TL picking Raynor very early (their 2nd pick). Crazy, who would've thought a month ago.

Yikes, anyone have an explanation for why they went for Malfurion instead of Rehgar? Tranquility preference maybe?

Malf is usually better hero in 2 Warriors meta with how much sustain healing he provides to the team and how much fights are dragged on. Only real burst Dignitas has is Zeratul and he has a hard time to burst anyone down except for Jaina, and even she isn't so easy since Falcon got Frost Armor against Zeratul. Malf also goes quite well with any "mage" hero because of Innervate.

Good point. Dig has to be feeling nervous with 69 gems on Zeratul XD

Zeratul lost 74 gems, that should be a game.

Real question is that applied from when they are summoned, or when they appear on the map, or does it apply if they are on the map when the clock hits 15?

I have a feeling that TL's lineup is quite low on damage in this game, especially against the Tyrael + Kharazim combo, but they are quite tanky with two best tanks in the game and Tassadar. This is probably going to be hard.

I don't think so, even though it should be since HOTS is basically created from SC2.

Yeah, this is quite terrible way to handle the things. :/

I am rooting for 1-1 so we could see game 3.

I honestly think it affected Dignitas, TL feels far more present past level ten than they did in the first match where everyone DC'd.

It definitely affected them, they had the advantage in the first game, not big but still an advantage. They are getting back in this game though.

As I said in my first comment about this game, don't really know what TL was trying to do with these picks? Maybe trying to get heroes that can hold their own so they can hold onto Shrines for longer period of time? Only real damage was Nazeebo that get bursted down instantly by Jaina and Zeratul and Tyrael.

They are ok after level 10, first 10 levels they are just soaking machines, nothing else.

With Longboat they can dish out solid damage and even without it they can zone out some squishy heroes, it also depends on the way you are playing them.

I see, I was just curious if it there were other benefits beyond we're always going to be soaking, you're not.

Well, there are benefits since you can take a Terror with one Viking and push quite nicely with other 2 one lane while 4 of your mates push the third lane, resulting into all three lanes getting pushed quite hard.

A lot of times we win our games that way on Garden.

Nice, well played by BOB?!
For some reason I find myself rooting against TL (probably the underdog factor of rooting against the favorites).

That would make sense before, but Dignitas is right now in my opinion best EU team(even though the line between them, TL and Na`Vi is probably very slim).

Well, Anub is like top tier in EU, no surprise to see him here. A lot of other matches had Anub.

Is the difference that stark between regions? I always thought Anub was considered T2ish tending towards the upper end of that description. Seems like Arthas is preferred over him on the most general of curves.

Well it depends from team to team, for example I know that quite a few players regard Kharazim as one of the best, if not the best, supports in the game but their teams disagree with them which is the reason he isn't picked that much. Zuna changes his tier list every month or two, depending on the Meta.

Seeing how Anub is picked every second game and sometimes is even banned in EU, he is definitely considered to be a lot better than he is in NA. In Korea he is also picked quite a bit, still not as much as in EU though. In Korea they usually use Locust Swarm while in EU they prefer Web Blast a lot.

About the Arthas, it really depends, Arthas is dealing more damage than Anub but he has a lot less control and diving potential. Arthas is also a bit more tanky and has more sustain but at the same time less mobile.

I think it was smart to try and core by VP there. Roccat was really close to storm talents. It was really their only chance of winning.

Nah, they could have easily sniped the keep, defended their own, and still had time to get back to the immortal and secure a lead. Going for an all-in there against Leoric getting up in ~20 seconds is just a mistake. If there's anything we've learned from the Americas Championship, it's that Leoric alone can threaten 5 people trying to rush down an objective.

I don't, destroying a keep was good decision, going on a core when there was Leoric in the enemy team that was respawning soon, Tassadar that was alive and 2 heroes on 15 sec respawn timer was simply an overextension on their side. I knew that they were going to be wiped from the second I saw them going on the core.

I disagree. They already had cats top lane and their second keep was at like 20%. Roccat was going to get 20 before the next team fight (VP would not be 20) and that makes it almost impossible to win. The only critique versus VP would be should they have just gone in through the middle straight to core instead of taking the keep. You can do that on BoE, right?

The only way they could have won is if they somehow wiped Roccat AGAIN despite Roccat having storm talents. It isn't going to happen. VP had a chance to win by coring in that situation (they already got a pretty lucky wipe by a terrible Roccat fight) and they took it. But even if Roccat took a bad engage they'd be up storm talents and they simply wouldn't lose.

You have to kill a keep before you can attack the core.

My point is that they could get a big experience boost and map presence boost by taking down the keep and still have enough time to take the immortal, which would buy them enough time to catch up in XP and mostly even it out. They don't need to fight with the immortal a talent down, they can instead use it to buy time for them and catch up.

I don't have a problem with Jake / Cooby, in fact they should have casted the finals in Vegas not Tastetosis. But that's the same reason I think Khaldor should be here instead of one or both of them.

But they are ESL casters and Khaldor is not, so that seems to be the deciding factor.

Also why is this an elimination game? What happened earlier.

Edit: Just checked liquipedia, TL lost to Kharazim followed by triple warrior, more Asian meta biting them huh?

They went for Vikings, enemy took a composition that doesn't care about Viking soak advantage. They really need to start taking giant slayer heroes if they want to use Vikings.

Lolllll yeah I was quite on tilt early in the day. Combination of having to observe when I didn't anticipate it, while casting, while trying to production problem solve. Rip my mind. It happens sometimes. Never had a casting mishap quite that derp in heroes before.

Nah, you're good, man! It's a very different world to cast compared to starcraft. The pace that stuff happens is so rapid, I'm amazed anyone can remember all the names of talents and abilities and say them correctly on time. Love your casting, keep it up!

Dunno if Dignitas is better, especially when the casters wants to push me into this Dignitas is just a TL snipe team mindset. But they are right that TL can't play to their strength in the current Meta, with lanes being cleared by invincibles tanks in one hit.
You can't create advantages by splitting well with this anymore.

Team Liquid's strength came from having Blackscorp on melee assassins, vortix on some XP-soaking hero and the rest just adjusting accordingly. Until this warrior-heavy meta stops, i don't think they will be pulling off amazing results (sadly). I really hope Blizzcon will be better than this, right now it's just whoever is the most heavy (and wave-cleary), wins.

Team Liquid's strength came from having Blackscorp on melee assassins, vortix on some XP-soaking hero and the rest just adjusting accordingly. I really hope Blizzcon will be better than this, right now it's just whoever is the most heavy (and wave-cleary), wins.

Yep, so sad to see the year long dominating team out too early because they are playing poorly on this patch... but well, Navi just stomped everyone and Dig proved how they are superior to TL with current meta, so lets hope the meta won't change before blizzcon so we'll really see the best current teams clash.

Boss throw from Dignitas... NaVi picks off Zeratul (for like the hundredth time), then NaVi gets spiders and boss. gg.

Navi versus Dignitas so far looks a lot more one sided than I imagined.

Navi so troll. No warrior, double melee assassin, lol. Either they win by a landslide in the early game, or they lose horribly, there will be not much middle ground with that comp.

wtf Navi doesn't care about 0 loss tournament. That would be insane if the do it. Butcher can easily heal himself on Arthas though, so basically a tank.

This mine build on BoE is quite interesting. It is basically like doing Zagara's job on the map but in a better fashion since you can more easily get forward vision.

Navi is playing this comp perfectly. They get a kill then just disengage. They know they have virtually no sustain and they have a huge amount of blow up. So they get the kill, disengage, re-engage, kill, repeat.

Weren't tanks supposed to be good against Melee Assassins. But yeah Kharazim can't keep up levels down. Also best map to do this on. You get insane Bosses pushing in, that will end the game for you.

Congrats Navi !

Now Dignitas really feels like they only prepared for beating TL. Was hoping they get a map.

In theory but in execution Navi was just jumping on either Naz or KT and just blowing them up. Removing either of those two made it so Dig didn't have the damage to actually kill anyone.

Depends, in Butcher's case for example he is amazing against tank, on the other hand Illidan sucks against them etc.

Really well played by Na`Vi, quite impressed by that last composition and their games overall. JayPL especially showed amazing Butcher play, not just because of the talent build and choosing the right targets but his flanks were amazing. It is quite easy to counter the Butcher when you know from where he is coming.

needed Dwarf toss talents to save Kael. But was an amazing draft by Navi. Also Moshpit + Deathmetal next time against this Dignitas ! Trust me.

The last deciding game of the final match was just amazing. Navi's team composition was unorthodox and entertaining - it completely breaks with the trend of multiple-warrior meta. It was so refreshing to watch!

Wondering how they will do against Asians ^^

Here's another one that's more overview with vod links:
http://hotsshot.com/esports/road-to-blizzcon/

What I found interesting is that a few months ago the top teams in each region were:
NA: Tempo Storm
EU: Team Liquid
Kr: Team DK KR

but they all got dethroned in a hard way recently mostly due to changing metas and all have struggled to catch back up with varying success (DK won super league, TS qualified for Blizzcon, and poor TL couldn't reinvent themselves fast enough).
