Next games start December 6th with Edward Gaming vs Team YL at 18:00 CST, followed by Oh My God vs Brave Heart at 21:00 CST. Then December 7th C9 vs eStar at 18:00 CST followed by ahq vs Zero Gaming at 21:00 CST. The top records for the Gold league's regular season were: Edward Gaming at 10-1, Zero Gaming at 10-2, EStar at 9-2. The thing with video games, and especially HOTS, is that patches can really change who the best team is in any period. Team Liquid didn't drop because of a decrease in skill as much as a shift in meta due to patches weakening their dominant strategies and strengthening other options which they weren't able to adapt to. Every patch has the potential to do that for any team. Unlike pro atheletics, the actual rules and options available to a team change from patch to patch. The game with scaling introduced is not the same game as it was at Blizzcon. The maps change, the heroes change in effectiveness, and new heroes are introduced on a regular basis. So C9 will be defending world champions until the next world championship, but they won't be automatically relegated to best team in the world until then unless they keep winning. The WCA in two weeks that will determine who the best team in the world is right now. Which certainly doesn't mean that team will still be the best team in the world by the next world championship or even the next major tournament.
Very solid points here. I am also looking forward to seeing what happens in the WCA. Would be cool to see a chogall win but I have a hard time picturing it since the opposing team could just take monk/leoric for last pick and insta counter him.

Mvp black playing! Korean stream though, but wow, they look good, completely demolishing their opponent, killing the core at level 15 vs 11...
Triple warrior ftw!

Azmodan and Artanis picked by MVP black in game 2. Troll picks vs an inferior opponent, or new meta??

Apparently HCOT season 2 is the current Korean league. Found a bunch of VODs here.

I doubt that these picks will become new Meta, but they did something interesting that I haven't seen before in a pro match. Azmodan picked Sieging Wrath talent at level 1(since his Taste for Blood is bugged currently and its damage isn't increased by Black Pool) and together with Kael'Thas they kept sniping enemy Moonwells behind the gate. This forced enemy to split-push and soak as much as possible instead of fighting for the Punisher as they couldn't heal through the Moonwells when they were low on HP and had to hearthstone back to base.
Now this could become an interesting strategy that some teams can utilize.

I remember that a few months ago some Pro (dunno who and too laze too google) did the "destroy the wells tactic" with Kharazim and tried so sell it as the new meta. Seems it's coming back around again

@Harris1st and Karazax
I saw both of those, but Kharazim one was just on Cursed Hollow IIRC and it was mid Well only, while that Azmodan Well sniping strategy is very risky and not worth it. We had a Nazeebo trying that in our game and we just killed him in like 3 seconds...
But this is actually new because you are doing it from quite the distance and it is almost risk-free while at the same time it can get you a win and advantage at first 2 Punishers.

CarltheLlama is who you're thinking of. He posted it on TL: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/heroes/494672-cursed-hollow-cheese
Like Ramiz said, this is different. Even Carl called his strat a cheese. This was a very well-thought out map specific strategy. Now that it's been revealed though, I wonder how effective it'll be (and also if it can be applied to other maps).

I am pretty sure this has been known for a few months now (I think it initially came to fruition on Dragon Shire)...but I think on this map the value of it is a lot higher which is why they made those picks. pretty cool since I don't think there is a way to counter it so it really just adds another hero into the pool of viability.

This Liquid seems to lack chemistry. Before every major team fight, a Liquid player is picked off. I don't know how many times Lucifron was caught off by himself. I really think we need to make roster changes.
|
Again, Liquid loses another hero before a major team fight. The communication and chemistry of this team seems off.
|
I dunno how many times Lucifron was caught off by himself and dies before a major team fight. He really needs to be kicked from the team.

You can't say stuff like that if you haven't been on a serious or competitive team. If you want team to have good chemistry and synergy, they have to understand each other and talk to each other a lot. If one of them makes a mistake, that doesn't necessarily mean that he is the one at fault, he maybe got the wrong information or didn't get any information at all. It is easy to say that one was out of position when you are watching a VOD or Replay, but you don't know what their plan was and what they were trying to do, what they were saying to each other etc.
Other than that, Lucifron is Vortix's brother, and I doubt that one will leave without the other.
