yeah racism is everywhere.

The difference is that 90% of Koreans in foreign countries are not arrogant retards whereas 90% of foreigners in Korea are.

this is pretty lol

are you aware that america/canada are the absolute nicest countries in the world for immigrants? if you are white and living in an asian country the racism is absolutely overwhelming, you can not expect in any way to live any kind of normal life, and everything is your fault
i can't believe someone like susie who has lived in korea and america can come here and spout nonsense about america being in any way a worse place for minorities to live in than korea

just random shit i have seen in korea:
i was coming back to korea and at the airport they had about ~70 vietnamese people that were obviously being imported as slave labor to work in the factories up north near the dmz... the viets were being screamed at and hit by customs agents

koreans backed by the police import south east asian girls on the premise of being dancers to work in brothels for sleezy salaryman

sometimes i'll try to go to some places and they'll tell me "korean only", so ill be like what why, and they'll say oh one time a white guy came here and had a fight or something retarded

lol

if american businesses did that, they'd get sued
if america started importing slave labor, the world would go fucking nuts
even half koreans trying to go to school in korea end up committing suicide for all the abuse they get from insanely racist LITTLE KIDS taught by their parents to hate everything not korean

god i could go on but its pointless if you have lived this long and not realized such a simple truth. we have a black president ffs, i've never seen so many stupid posts in such a short amount of time

You think ALL of America is "accepting" as you put it? Maybe the bigger cities, maybe the metropolitan areas. You go out west more, south more and you really think that racism doesn't exist there? As a fuckin' grad student in Indiana I got told several times "Oh, you speak good English!" (to which I reply, No, I speak English WELL), or have people say things like "oh but your people blah blah blah".

We have a black president after HOW many years of black citizens fighting for their freedom?

At the same time, do you feel that teh white people in Korea represent all white people? The ones here are GIs who like to pick fights and English teachers who think that they are the shit. Arrogant and cocky and degrading, as if they are gracing us with their presence.

No matter which country I go to, it's pretty apparent that there is a level of racism. The looks I get for walking around with my white boyfriend range from disgust to jealousy - all depending on the individual who is looking. So don't give me the whole "America is so wonderful" because although it might be nice for immigrants on a legal level, there's a reason why most asians stick with their own (Chinatowns, Korea towns) - and it's not mainly because of the language.

Yeah it's not cause of the language, it's because they are closed minded conformists scared of straying from what they know, which is why the whites say and assume all those 'racist' things.

You don't get looks of disgust and/or jealousy littlesusan, it's in your head. And if it is happening it's merely because Jamie could get any girl he wants in this world. Don't deny it, u know he's outa ur league!!!

The school obviously thinks breaking a kids nose is worse than punching a kid in the face. Schools can't expell every lad who gets into a fight, but it is reasonable to expell a student who breaks another students nose. Frankly I think the little white bastard deserved it, but the young Korean lad is far from innocent and mets the requirements to have his punishment. The rallying just shows how fucking retarded people are.

Huh? I think you underestimate just how easy it is to break someones nose when you give them a good punch to the face.

I'm pretty sure the white kid hit hard enough to cause a broken nose but just didn't hit the kids nose the right way... You should be looking for intent here. If there was intent to cause harm, bam assault charge (assuming they went through with it... which they did)

Also if someone attacks you then you have EVERY right to fight back. You can pretty much be assured you aren't going to get beat to death in a school setting but you never really know. To just stay there and say "well call the police" is only said by people that haven't been jumped before.

I completely agree intent matters, but you speak as if the results of the violence doesn't matter. The results are what people see and have to deal with. Practically, we as a society dole out punishments based on results and intent. Attempted murder gets a lesser sentence than murder and punching a kid in the face gets a lesser sentence than breaking a kids nose. This is perfectly reasonable. The white lad is getting the standard sentence for punching, and the korean is getting the standard sentence for breaking a kids nose.

The teasing and bullying also has results. I think there should be a little extra in there for mocking and making fun of the korean lad. Nevertheless, we don't expell every student who makes fun of another student, we'd lose every boy in middle school otherwise.

And for those of you who think otherwise, a little clarification about fighting back. You're allowed to fight back ONLY IF there is no other option. This means, you couldn't get out of the situation in some other way. I don't know the particulars of this fight, but I doubt the Korean boy was in a situation where he could not have ran to an administrator and reported the issue.

The white kid is a little bastard and I'm glad his nose is broken, but it shouldn't be broken.

u got it wrong.. at least in america though the self-defense act allows you to protect urself the perpetrator is still allowed to charge a victim for fighting back... though it's very very unlikely the person will win and therefore they won't do such a thing, they still hold the right to charge their victim for fighting back... it's pretty retarded but that's how it is...

LOL
lilsusie, you are going overboard
i dont know many black politicians worthy of becoming a president, it has nothing to do with them fighting for their freedom. If anything, the fact that this country got a black president should speak in the favor of the guy you arguing with, but you trying to flip it over before someone uses it in the argument.
racism is absolutely common, nothing new here. In US it probably generates worse scenarios overall, but imo in asian countries people are less accepting and more traditional in general
also funny quote about your white boyfriend, im sure u get WAY more "looks" in korea then the hateful US

This seems kind of ridiculous, one student starts the fight both physically and verbally and he gets punished less that the kid defending himself?

Good ol' racism makes everything better.

Later on, some 400+ kids in the school whom are majority white protested for injustice and unfair treatment which made the police reopen the case and assigned a hate crime unit to it.

Look if THEY'RE protesting about unfairness on behalf of the Asian, I mean come on Keswick High School people, if that isn't saying anything than what will make them correctly identify what happened?

Cops are more likely to be racist than children, but they back that up with a gun that they can use with impunity. And the school administrators, too.

You can see it in the way they handled the situation - the asymmetrical punishment that they handed out to the aggressor and the initial victim. Trusting people in positions of authority to dole out justice is naive.

To be fair, the article says that he's only up for expulsion, but can defend himself to a committee. He probably won't get expelled after the student protest and media coverage. As for the charges, I have no idea what will happen with that. He did break a kid's nose, albeit unintentionally. Given that he's a minor, and criminal records are reset when you turn 18, at least it shouldn't prevent him from getting a good job down the line.

America is too large to give it the label of racist or not. We all know middle America is as fucking racist as any other country in the world, if not the biggest bigots in the western world.
I live in New York where white men tend to get screwed out of school or jobs as administrators look to diversify their system. Case in point, My school is 62% Asian with a White minority. LA is racist only due to its socio-economic issues, not much else, but East Coast (NYC) you pretty much can't commit a hate crime lest you want your life shat on.

Is America on a whole to be considered Racist? Nah.

And Susie, to act as if its been too long a time between civil right movement and having a black president, it should be noted that we're actually one the only western countries to be able to do so - and that is overcoming some of the biggest bigotry that is the American south and mid-west.
Try getting a Jewish President, and that isn't even skin color ;p

in Vancouver asian people are quite the bad ass trouble makers
just because the kid had good grades doesn't mean hes a victim.

story said the kid has a black belt, and any Asian knows the purpose of obtaining black belts is to beat on white kids.
