well it's not purely racism, it's semi realistic. koreans simply don't start shit ever, meanwhile US army guys in korea are always starting fights giving all whites a bad name
but man do i love it when they try to say 'sorry koreans only' to me
then u just say 'but i am korean...' in korean and they are like wtf and let u in LOL believing the stereotypes about a certain people and acting based on those prejudices is the definition of racism, rekrul
not when the preconception is factual often times
i'm not saying i agree with them but it's not all-out racism, it's a business decision
even 1 bad event with foreigners starting trouble in a place can kill it's business with koreans
lol the other night at casino poker room this white kid on the smaller table lost all his money and some korean guy talked shit, then the white guy was going nuts standing up saying LETS TAKE THIS OUTSIDE MAN U WANNA GO, ILL FUK U UP
he kept being all huffy puffy like a pathetic faggot then i looked at him like he's a retard and said in korean to ppl "wtf is wrong with white people in korea, if this loser was in america he'd never be acting like this" then all these koreans that NEVER talk started chiming up about how pathetic whites r in agreement and talking about all the problems they've seen
apparently the guy was smart enough to realize i was shit talking him cuz he was like "WTF U SAY MAN? WE CAN GO TOO IF U WANT"
then security made him leave
i don't know how that story is relevant at all actually, but it's funny how soooo many koreans have a flawed view on whites because of a small % of fuckups. but anyways fuck the whites in korea.
except me cuz i call ppl hyung and eat kimchi.

i'm not entirely sure why they found it really important to include his performances in each of his classes... it's not a bad thing, but the percentages are distracting in regards to the rest of the article.
if a black kid did it instead of the asian kid, would they also include a dossier of his athletic abilities?
"a black student defended himself in a hideous hate crime. oh by the way, speaking of stereotypes, he makes approximately 97% of his layups, 85% of his free throws, and 60% of his three pointers"

I find it kind of refreshing for one person in a fight to be suspended and one not be. Often times, we see a bully and a kid that fights back get the same treatment. Unfortunately, in this case it seems like it might not have been a good idea.

What a stupid decision on the Principal of the school...
That Korean kid had every right to defend himself. When you are in a fight, you don't know what kind of crazy shit can happen, getting hit the wrong way or falling down the wrong way can get you killed or injured in a major way...Only way to minimize those risks is to fight back and defend yourself....
I mean common, who here would just cuddle up and wait it out while some dumb ass keeps hitting you, would you not fight back to minimize the damage done to you and the pain??? Seriously would you not?
Arguing that the Korean kid should be punished for defending himself is freaking crazy...HELLO the other guy started punching you why the fuck don't you have the right to defend your life???
Racism pisses me off the most...

This is the one thing I don't like about America. If someone starts a fight with me(throwing a punch or whatever) I should have the right to defend myself until the threat is incapacitated. Then the starter of the fight should be punished accordingly.

They just included that because it's rare for someone who's a really good student to face criminal charges. Whereas, there's plenty of people that are good at basketball but also criminals hell there might even be a positive correlation there lol.

God the worlds so PC now. a Hate crime unit for calling a kid a racist name and geting into a fight with him? Fuck do the cops really need to be called in for a fight in school even wtf?
Kids get into fights shit happens its not that serious

the responses in this thread are so interesting/funny, i don't even know if i can be outraged and flabbergasted anymore

well when you have an all-volunteer army like America, who wants to go to the army? mostly ppl who couldnt be anything or get into college (except officers) are at the bottom of American society and end up going to other counties to represent. Foreigners in korea facing racism is real too but how many of them speak korean? if you cant speak the country's language thats ur own problem.

Hm.. wow... that is pretty harsh... I suppose this is what the real world is and what reality is whereas most of us in the world don't even have such incident happen but for those misfortunate unlucky ones....
In any case, best of lucks for the case (and for lilsusie's friend case) to be resolved as best as possible!!

The school obviously thinks breaking a kids nose is worse than punching a kid in the face. Schools can't expell every lad who gets into a fight, but it is reasonable to expell a student who breaks another students nose. Frankly I think the little white bastard deserved it, but the young Korean lad is far from innocent and meets the requirements to have his punishment. The rallying just shows how fucking retarded people are.
how can you honestly call someone a criminal for fighting back after he was verbally and physically assaulted. your comment just shows how retarded you really are. I would love to show up to your house and verbally assault you and then physically attack you, just to see how much of a hypocrite you are.

Can't say I know the reasoning behind the police's charges, just thought it was an interesting (and possibly relevant) tidbit.
A friend of mine from high school actually has certification saying that his body is classified as a deadly weapon, so if he were to beat someone up, he'd be in much more trouble than the average kid in a school yard scrap.
This is true. You get into more shit just for having a degree in martial arts as opposed to not having a degree. But at least the white kid should get charged as well.

this is pretty lol
are you aware that america/canada are the absolute nicest countries in the world for immigrants? if you are white and living in an asian country the racism is absolutely overwhelming, you can not expect in any way to live any kind of normal life, and everything is your fault i can't believe someone like susie who has lived in korea and america can come here and spout nonsense about america being in any way a worse place for minorities to live in than korea
just random shit i have seen in korea: i was coming back to korea and at the airport they had about ~70 vietnamese people that were obviously being imported as slave labor to work in the factories up north near the dmz... the viets were being screamed at and hit by customs agents
koreans backed by the police import south east asian girls on the premise of being dancers to work in brothels for sleezy salaryman
sometimes i'll try to go to some places and they'll tell me "korean only", so ill be like what why, and they'll say oh one time a white guy came here and had a fight or something retarded
lol
if american businesses did that, they'd get sued if america started importing slave labor, the world would go fucking nuts even half koreans trying to go to school in korea end up committing suicide for all the abuse they get from insanely racist LITTLE KIDS taught by their parents to hate everything not korean
god i could go on but its pointless if you have lived this long and not realized such a simple truth. we have a black president ffs, i've never seen so many stupid posts in such a short amount of time
You think ALL of America is "accepting" as you put it? Maybe the bigger cities, maybe the metropolitan areas. You go out west more, south more and you really think that racism doesn't exist there? As a fuckin' grad student in Indiana I got told several times "Oh, you speak good English!" (to which I reply, No, I speak English WELL), or have people say things like "oh but your people blah blah blah".
We have a black president after HOW many years of black citizens fighting for their freedom?
At the same time, do you feel that teh white people in Korea represent all white people? The ones here are GIs who like to pick fights and English teachers who think that they are the shit. Arrogant and cocky and degrading, as if they are gracing us with their presence.
No matter which country I go to, it's pretty apparent that there is a level of racism. The looks I get for walking around with my white boyfriend range from disgust to jealousy - all depending on the individual who is looking. So don't give me the whole "America is so wonderful" because although it might be nice for immigrants on a legal level, there's a reason why most asians stick with their own (Chinatowns, Korea towns) - and it's not mainly because of the language.

this is going to be like the jena 6
except less well known since the guy wasn't black. srsly tho.

A Korean boy was called a F@#$ing Chinese in gym class by a white classmate and the white classmate punched him in the mouth and caused bleeding then the Korean kid fought back broke his nose then he was the only one charged with assault and expulsion while the white kid got suspension.
I don't see how he got assault charges when it was self defense. Expulsion is just up to the school so you really cant say anything there, but the fact that only he was explelled and the other kid wasn't doesn't even make sense. Racist Committee imo.
