Seriously 6!?!?!?! The lowest edition Windows 7 SE only allows 3 apps open at once. i thought xp had more versions still if what you said about the lowest version is true then it sounds gay , who would purposely limit the number of apps run at one time?? im sticking with xp for as long as i possibly can

O_o Because 1: All businesses have to pay for windows on their machines 2: whenever someone buys a computer from a company like dell that has windows included, that means dell paid microsoft for that copy of windows to be on the computer.

This is the golden age of open source software. You can find open source equivalents to practically every commercial product on the market (excluding monsters like SAP or Oracle), namely OpenOffice, various programming IDE's, VirtualBox, JRE, Apache, Asterisk, FreeBSD servers and so on. If only people in gamedev started developing portable games, I'd say Linux would take over the gamer market very soon.

I thought it was going to be a poll about whether people knew the copy of Windows that comes with a computer isn't free, but is included in the overall cost. A lot of people think it is free :-/

What about updates, when you crack it, is it possible to have SP3 and all those other microsoft updates ( i dont know if they're important or not but its just to feel good) WinXP automatic updates work with a "non-legit" cd-key, no cracking needed. If you want manual updates from microsoft.com or want to use IE7 you need a crack for "windows genuine advantage validation".

So technically I have the right number of keys. I actually think that most people have enough licenses to cover all of their computers, as one comes with each computer. You can also downgrade from vista to xp as part of the license, but you cannot run xp pro on a home computer. I'm guessing that more people have licenses to run their os than you would think. If you read the Microsoft EULA you will discover that when you buy a laptop with Windows for example, the license is only legally valid on that hardware. If you buy a spare part desktop you'll be able to use the Windows (if it's not one of these horrible recovery CDs) but it won't be legal. Having the right number of licenses is one thing but it doesn't necessarily make legit. (I'm on Linux)

In Germany that clause is invalid, you may even sell OEM versions of windows(at least as a private person).
