Simple poll? hum...i was wondering....hum.correct me if im wrong but are people who use a cracked version of windows only those who built their PC's from individual parts? Since i guess when you buy a complete PC from a store 99% of the time it comes with windows anyway so you don't have the choice?
What about updates, when you crack it, is it possible to have SP3 and all those other microsoft updates ( i dont know if they're important or not but its just to feel good)
My dad told me he cracks everything unless its windows cuz he wants the updates ^__^

I haven't paid for Windows, but I get it issued via. my university for free.

you get free windows xp pro sp2 and windows vista business if you go to university, at least it is that way here

Seems like most new computers come with it pre-installed. A better question is what are you going to do when Windows 7 comes out in 6 versions. Seriously 6!?!?!?! The lowest edition Windows 7 SE only allows 3 apps open at once.

edit: and a kennigit seriously? Is it even possible to have less than 3 applications running at the same time? I mean all that stuff that usually runs in the background, like antivirus, messenger and so on. I can't really believe that they will bring out such a version.

I use cracked copies of almost everything.
And there are student and enterprise versions of XP that work as normal versions, meaning you can update them, use windows programs like media player 11, IE7 or 8, etc...

Technically, yes.
Got two XP Pro and a Vista Biz for free through my University (they signed something with MSFT), bought an extra copy of XP Pro for $25.
So, yes, all of my computers run on legit MS OS.

This is misinformed.
There are basically five versions (possibly six) but they aren't all for personal users. These names aren't accurate, they're just what I've renamed them without looking it up:
- Basic (only for developing countries)
- Professional (Like XP Home)
- Complete (Like XP Pro)
- Enterprise 1 (For businesses)
- Enterprise 2 (For large businesses)
So it comes down to a choice between XP Home and Pro for 99% of the community. I can find the Shacknews discussion if you want.
