When it comes to MMO's and such I have to stay away because I'll put all my time into them and Starcraft seems addictive from what I hear. :p I'll have to wait til I get another good few weeks off and play just that. See the thing is though, I understand there are n00bs that are just now getting into it as well, it's the pros that I'm worried about. So like... for example... when I first got Halo 3 it was my first time playing the Halo series and I got SPANKED by level 50's bashing me calling me n00b and tbagging my face. I'm like HEY! I just got this today! lol Not too sure it that will be how it is on Starcraft since I'd say a HUGE majority of players have been playing for years and my chances of encountering a n00b is probably slim. This leads to frustration and also a very slow learning process as most of my gaming time is spent being spanked and not really being able to do much in return. Is this kind of what it's like on Starcraft? Or is there a n00b lair I can run to? starcraft players will be more respective, but the gap is going to be HUGE. That said, if you try it out you can always make a blog asking for d- (this is the lowest rank) practice partner, and that shouldn't be too hard. starcraft is a game you really cant get good at casually. The good players play a lot, study replays, and just in general do lots of practice. It's fun, but you have to be dedicated to get anywhere. for the record, I think starcraft has (currently) a steeper skill curve than cs1.6 or halo

I have been watching the forums for a good couple weeks now being all stalker-ish and not saying anything... so yeah lol I'm on here. I can't say why I was crying, same as how he can't say. Reality shows are tough though, just know that. Geoff is amazing, I'm glad that I know him. Much love Geoff.

I can attack DragonForce on Expert and 5 star their songs but it's a lot of muscle memorization as the song is the same every time you play it. You guys have different commands you have to memorize and each time is different so you have to be ready to handle each situation in a split second... THAT is what I'm thinking I couldn't do. It may not seem like it, but high level Starcraft involves a lot of muscle memory. About 40% of a pros actions come from pressing hotkeys, and they play thousands of practice games so no situation is ever really new to them. I remember a video where some researchers hooked up equipment to monitor the brain activity of two people playing Starcraft - a noob and a progamer. The noob was mostly using the visual areas of the brain, whereas the pro was using the memory areas. If you can do 500 notes/minute on those crazy guitar hero songs, you're fast enough to play Starcraft easily.

I haven't played the first one though *hides in fear* but that's because I haven't had the time yet. Also seeing the Koreans play makes me cry... I can't do that many moves per minute if I tried. lol Should I try to start from 2 or is my best bet to start a bit on 1 before 2 comes out? Don't worry, most of us can't pull the moves pro koreans do, but you can enjoy the game anyway, even by playing at D levels. There's always something and you can always watch live games for fun. Lot's of people in this forum watch games but play rarely.

I am just the type that wants to be "the best" at everything so if I can't play at a pro level on a game quickly I tend to get away from it. I'm really good at FPS games on the computer... but strategy is a realm I haven't dipped into yet. As for "lol..... NERD HOOKUP INCOMING!!!!!!!!" all I can say is... I WISH! lol Single for... waaaaaayyyyyyy too long. Haha, youve just advertised that your looking for someone to teach you starcraft and that your single in the same post. I'd love to see your PM inbox right now.

Rofl this is quite true! I'm pretty sure she is being respected at this moment, but there's always that one person.
