haha... well I guess I haven't really tried... I just see the pros play and go OMG! It's like Dead or Alive 4. I saw Venessa from San Francisco Team OPTX playing and was like... I CAN DO THAT! I bought the game... took it home... played for like 3 days and then was like SCREW THIS! I took it back.

You guys just make it look easy. heh

If anyone wants to teach me... I'm down. I am just the type that wants to be "the best" at everything so if I can't play at a pro level on a game quickly I tend to get away from it. I'm really good at FPS games on the computer... but strategy is a realm I haven't dipped into yet.

As for "lol..... NERD HOOKUP INCOMING!!!!!!!!" all I can say is... I WISH! lol Single for... waaaaaayyyyyyy too long.

P.S. GH on Expert is hard but not if you practice (aka have no life) like me. I can attack DragonForce on Expert and 5 star their songs but it's a lot of muscle memorization as the song is the same every time you play it. You guys have different commands you have to memorize and each time is different so you have to be ready to handle each situation in a split second... THAT is what I'm thinking I couldn't do.

Look good iNc. How come you don't talk much in the trailer? Is that the way the show is going to be? 'Cause if so I'm a little less excited.
Super serious.

well experience in starcraft 1 will definitely help in starcraft 2, RTS games are generally more punishing for newer players than the likes of FPS games (or at least that is the case for all competitive rts games such as starcraft)

starcraft is the undisputed most competitive and strategically deep RTS game there is so if you like competitive games (I'm guessing yes) starcraft is very fun

Don't play it if you don't want to though, there will be many new players in starcraft 2 and ultimately practice in starcraft 2 will help the most for starcraft 2

Ya starslayer, if you throw away a game because you're not a pro at it, you should probably try another alternative. starcraft is a very good game though, so i suggest you try to break that habit. basically 100% of people playing casually like on iccup won't get on anywhere near the level of korean gamers. There is a chance to be a top foreigner, but that also takes lots of skill and dedication... most people won't attain the status of a top foreigner either.

I sort of agree... you can't learn Starcraft without losing a LOT. You will get better, but you'll feel like shit the first 10 times you get zergling/zealot/marine rushed. But if you have someone from this site teaching you, I'd imagine you'd improve quickly.

Yeah... I'll have to look into the game. Another problem I have is I have a highly addictive personality but only when it comes to games. When it comes to MMO's and such I have to stay away because I'll put all my time into them and Starcraft seems addictive from what I hear. :p I'll have to wait til I get another good few weeks off and play just that.

See the thing is though, I understand there are n00bs that are just now getting into it as well, it's the pros that I'm worried about. So like... for example... when I first got Halo 3 it was my first time playing the Halo series and I got SPANKED by level 50's bashing me calling me n00b and tbagging my face. I'm like HEY! I just got this today! lol Not too sure it that will be how it is on Starcraft since I'd say a HUGE majority of players have been playing for years and my chances of encountering a n00b is probably slim. This leads to frustration and also a very slow learning process as most of my gaming time is spent being spanked and not really being able to do much in return.

Is this kind of what it's like on Starcraft? Or is there a n00b lair I can run to?

Honestly, that's sort of the problem I had when I started playing. Even the D- guys on ICCUP kicked my ass. Eventually I was able to pull out a solid 20% winning rate (lol), but it is hard to find other noobs to start with. You can ask in a blog or something on TL and find a few other starters. I, for example, would be willing to play some noobcraft with you .

YAY! N00bcraft FTW. Now... to get the game... I'll do it after I come back from CES this weekend. Ok looks like I need to make a new forum posting since I'm clogging up Geoffs posting with my random n00bness...

A great place to do that is the Blogs section. That's generally where people go to post when they've got personal requests like looking for someone to play with, asking about how to improve their game etc.

Team Liquid IRC is really good for that too (if you can stand the immaturity lol)

Lady, you don't know the half of it.

I've been playing Starcraft for the last ten years or so: quit, comeback, catch up with old friends, quit, comeback, people asking where the hell you've been, rinse and repeat.

I used to be okay in my heyday, but now that I'm 24; I'm a lot slower at processing the information on/off screen; no dexterity anymore; and last but not least, I have trouble controlling large groups of units now. On the bright side, I never lost my raw skill. But, that can only get you so far. Anyway, I've learnt to embrace it.

The players are a lot better nowadays. Starcraft has become a science: it is easy to learn, but difficult to master. The game definitely has one of the steepest learning curves I know of.

You came to the right place though. Welcome to the TL community.

I'm sure Incontrol and many other TL members will be able to help you out,

good luck!

starslay3r you are never clogging up a forum Only making it better with your presence!

You will have our support in getting good at SC/SC2 I will PROMISE that. There are entirely too few girls playing this game and if you show _any_ interest you will be an insta-hero. Kinda nice for you imo! Not to mention the sponsoring, publicity that would come with being a potential top North American female SC2 player.
