I think I will probably end up at Columbia, Berkeley, Penn, or something like that. Worst case scenario I guess I will be at my safety school. I think I will be able to get into at least one of those though. (I hope...) On October 23 2008 08:16 Wasabi wrote: If you badly want to get to Stanford but have a feeling that you have little to no chance (and it's hard to say no matter how good-looking your school resume is), you can opt for a transfer during your sophomore or junior college year when you should have already picked a major that you want to finish. It is a bit easier to get admitted to Stanford that way. Stanford transfer students don't have a very low admission rate compared to applicant senior high school students. That is assuming that you were already admitted in a respected school during your previous college years, in my case, Berkeley. I'm not sure if you can do a CC > Stanford transfer and be admitted. The CC > uni transfer is more common in other unis. I'd have to say that I didn't apply for Stanford when I was at senior high school though. Did you submit your early action app yet? If you want to know more about the upper tier schools go to collegeconfidential.com. You can even post your school stats there like your SAT/ACT/GPA scores and have other users tell your chances before submitting your application to the school. Who knows, you might be just wasting your time/money/effort just to have your hopes shattered. ![]() Wasabi: Thanks for the info. I am actually a long-time member at collegeconfidential.com ![]() Thanks for the information on transferring, I appreciate it.

The acceptance rate for transfer students is usually around 1-2% . http://admission.stanford.edu/application/transfer/index.html That being said, I cannot recommend it enough=). I can't imagine a better undergrad experience at any other school ~~
