Hey people applying to college,
first off sucks to be you. Second of all, I believe that you are trying to figure out what schools to apply to. Well look no further, as I am starting a thread for college students/alumni to either plug or hate on the school they went to/applied to/transferred out of.
Hey people who are in/have been in college,
first off sucks to be you. Second of all if you want to have more tl people in your school, plug your school or hate on a previous school in this thread.
I'll start with my school, the University of Chicago.
Reasons why you should go here:
1) Nobody uses the gym and the gym is really nice. We actually have two gyms.
2) The food here is quite good compared to other campuses. Trust me, I can compare.
3) This school is really fucking good academically. We're not Harvard good, but we're Columbia good and Duke good (according to US News and World Report... lol)
4) This school has the top Economics program in the country and probably the world. I'm not kidding here. Steven Levitt, Milton Friedman (though he dead), all part of this school.
5) We have a Starcraft club and tbh some of the people aren't very good but some of them are on my level so ^^
6) Like Asian girls? We have a ridiculous amount of attractive asian girls (other girls not so much). However, most of them are dragon ladies and super super competitive premeds. So if you're going premed, watch out!
7) We have fucking nice dorms. The dorm I'm living in is a former hotel although it will close in the next year, but there are plenty of suites/private bathroom suites, etc.
8) We're common app next year so that should apply to your sense of apath.
9) Enjoy studying? Good news! The average student spends 30 hours a week studying. We have many big libraries though including a new one opening next year.
10) We're in Chicago. It's like New York but quieter and with less entertaining panhandlers. Although drugs are really easy to get... lol.
Reasons you shouldn't go here:
The drinking/parties/frats are terrible. Although if you are a substance free that should be a plus.
Did I mention you have to study? It's "where fun goes to die"... ahehehehe.
Chicago is fucking cold in the winter. Although we are safe from hurricanes.

Emory University
Why you should come!
1) Before you ask "what the hell is that?" its a great private school in Georgia, that is number 18th on the USnews rankings this year. It's highly selective.Look into it =)
2) We have slightly more girls than guys =D
3) If you like frats, about 30% or 1/3 of the people are into greek life, however this does not mean you have to be part of that to have fun, I'm not and I enjoy myself in other ways
4) We're pretty solid, prelaw premed and business, the major three careers that a lot of people consider
5) Our business school is top five for undergrad business ranked by businessweek (although I believe this may be somewhat overrated, our bschool is still solid)
6) Common app, makes it easy to apply here.
7) We're pretty much next to Atlanta, and the area around here is pretty nice
6) Many asians, if you like that. Mostly korean though.
7) our upper classman dorms are like a country club, some new freshmen dorms were built this year, I'm living in them and its great
8) A lot of jewish people, so if you're jewish there's always something for you to do.
9) Lots of club parties and frat parties if you're into that stuff
10) People are friendly, I've seen very very few people who come off as arrogant or mean or something
11) Food is pretty good. Sorta gets tiring after a while, but that's just like food at any place.
12) Private school, so smaller classes (except in intro classes like chem 141)
13) Our library is somewhere in the top 20 (i think?) according to the princeton review rankings. It's pretty nice and I like it.
14) Lots of clubs, activities, events, free food, and free shuttles to places like Lenox, GaTech, and other malls and stuff.
15) Nice warm southern weather!
16) Emory is rich because of Coca Cola. If you like coke, come! There's construction all the time, which means the school has money to spend on new things.
Why You Should Not Come!
1) It feels like you HAVE to attend parties to meet people, which is somewhat true, but not really.
2) Sorta clique-y
3) Our gym is pretty good, but sorta old. Just wish it was better. There's enough weights, tracks, fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, pools, ect for everyone though. The place just look slightly old.
4) Private school, so you may need some money. However, the financial aid is pretty nice to very low income families. And there's other things to help out with loans and stuff.
5) No football team, but I don't like football so its a plus for me >_>

We don't suck, but maybe slumping a bit. Class of '08 was the first class without a final four under coach K, and preseason chances aren't great for my class of '09.

Like playing starcraft?
Like being the biggest nerd you know but having 300 apm and getting invited to forginer tournaments, only just to talk about them?

My brother went to UMCP so I'm a Terps fan... so yes I was messing around. I go to MIT though.
