I'm not an actively good man the same way Elon is not an actively evil man. I would never prioritize desires over actions. A psychopath who desperately wants to commit murder but never kills anyone is not a murderer. Dangerous, yes. But not a murderer. How can I call such a person evil? Their heart may be evil, but their actions are not. This is why calling people "good" or "evil" by their desires alone is a pointless exercise. In terms of moral judgements, desires are generally secondary, while actions ultimately decide who a person truly is. In fact I'd go so far as to say a psychopath who desires the death and harm of other people but never actually kills or harms other people is far more commendable than an empath who commits the worst atrocities imaginable intending to save the world. Elon Musk may be literally the best person in his heart. It would then only be true in his heart. Morally speaking he's a terrifying monster. The wealthiest person in the world using his money for the worst of causes. He's evil. | ||

I think you are absolutely right, and I think it is also a good thing he is outspoken so that we can criticize him together and he will stay in his lane hopefully. I would personally say it is better have him do it in the open than him trying to lobby and stuff and doing it in the back. I highly doubt anyone is 100% on anything at all. And definitely everyone has a very different perspective on everything I would say. | ||

So, the guy is only thinking in terms of the binary between (neo)liberalism and the far right, so laying it at this forum is a bit silly because we have mainly social democrats and leftists, but in terms of the observation, I think he's right. With all other options taken out of the equation but neoliberalism and the far right, ultimately the far right is going to prevail. Then the far right being on top will lead to a bunch of wars, a lot of people will die but you know, mainly leftists and far right people, and if we are lucky enough to win we'll get to set a new cycle. At least that's how I see things currently. | ||

I really don't understand a jackshit about DEI, and what the hell the purpose of it is about? You can tell me all the glorified goal it tries to achieve. But to a Chinese it just WTF am I living in? I came to the western world and I find myself being policed by bunch of DEI officer(to me is just CCP commissars) and we have so many classification of BS crap. Labeling everyone, and canceling anyone who dare to speak differently. I've had enough with Chinese history in the past, great culture revolution and all the BS my family and rest of China had to endure, and we came to the land of free, I guess is more free to do more stupid shit than whatever we had back then. Democrat's #1 response -> brain dead, uncultured, stars raging and classifying people, showing their intellectual dominance, and starts lecturing away. Please, help me put the food on the table and help my family stay safe, all these DEI had minimal social impact, but look at all the recent disastrous game releases that was dead on arrival because how god forbid DEI officer made those game be, and the CEO and ppl in charge vows to commit to DEI into their death. In meanwhile random games here and there, Black myth wukong, marvel rival has crazy success number. These are made in China. Jesus, you guys want to end CCP? help the people in China? WELL SHIT, they are making better stuff than you guys are, I don't know who is better at this point, apparently I am in such a dystopia, one is shit on paper, and actually shit in reality, but producing amazing product. Or was it totally fine that Biden selected a black woman for her perspective, as long as she was *also* qualified for the position? That, imho, is a good implementation of DEI: while 9 people are never going to represent the diversity that is the USA, they should at least be somewhat diverse. And while I agree everyone is more than a bunch of labels, people often self-identify as a label. You yourself called yourself Chinese to explain some of your positions and background. Women also have a shared perspective that is often different from men's perspective. If it were exclusively up to men, women would be getting groped, sent dick pics, and far worse, in the workplace. Luckily we don't just listen to men, and far too many women have spoken out about their experiences and how it was unpleasant. So we have laws, regulations, protocols and systems in place that allow women to feel safer (not yet safe, unfortunately) in their workplace. Without including women's perspective, we wouldn't have gotten there. Not to mention the amount of products *for women* men have designed badly (laughably so) throughout history, by ignoring what women say they need. We should stop doing stuff like that and listen to them. And in general, almost no company is worse off for including women in equal positions as men. The same goes for other perspectives too, although cultural differences are more subtle than biological ones. A black person is generally very similar to a white person. But coming from a slightly different cultural background will have different perspectives on things. Particularly in government it is important to include people of many cultural backgrounds. But it is also important in representation. If all an Indian girl sees in the media is white supermodels and male scientists, she may just give up on her dreams of modelling or engineering. Or fighting fire. Or becoming an athlete. And maybe she would have really excelled at one of those things, but because she thought those professions were reserved for other people, she never even tried (and because her parents believed it too they dissuaded her from trying). | ||
