From the russian press release, it says that it sunk while it was towed due to hull damage. They say the hull damage was caused by ammunition exploding after a fire. Just don't ask how or what started that fire.

The Moskva cruiser was also actually built in Ukraine in Mykolaiv, I wonder if they had some specific knowledge about it's radar weaknesses. Though I guess it probably has had several refits by now.

They had, they have twin unit docked in Mikolaiv named Ukraina. Which is a scrap today.

Oh and the whole "actually Ukraine is a modern Nazi state" nonsense.

“Heavy weapons are synonymous with tanks, and all NATO countries have so far ruled this out to not become targets themselves,” said Habeck, who also serves as Germany’s economy and climate minister, arguing that NATO and the EU must first debate whether “we want to change this line.” This comes after the Czechs sent T-72 tanks to Ukraine ten days ago, and several other allies sent heavy weapons as well.

Japan has changed its constitution in order to send equipment to Ukraine (they changed articles about sending military aid to countries at war) and are now in the process of removing "Self Defense" prefix from their military - most likely the result of Russia dropping diplomatic relations with them and ceasing peace talks over Kuril Islands that have been ongoing since WW2, to which Japan responded "move out or we will move you out". + Show Spoiler + ![]() That development in Japan has been ongoing for a number of years and has been accelerated even more with the Abe government. They may use this as an opportunity to finalize this, but it is really not a surprise. The discussion on dropping the self-defense limitations has been going on for many years. And if you look at their hardware, this development is even older. And it is rather clearly directed straight against China. Look for example at their helicopter carriers of the Izumo class. Those ships were classified as escort ships and destroyers to comply with their self-defense clauses but are for all practical reasons full-fledged aircraft carriers armed with F35.
