Basically just try to work your ass off and save up money would be the best thing for now is how I see it. Then start planning ahead for the future. Oh man I am so thankful to god right now for my education and stuff. I really feel for ya Charlie, can't even begin to imagine what that would be like. Our government pretty much takes care of everyone here, even if you had no job and got kicked out on the street. good luck

I wouldn't suggest taking up poker for a full time job thou, remember no matter what you are still GAMBLING with your money, you can be up $1000 big ones one day, and the next be -$1500. Find a steady job and a place to stay first. And once you get accomodated you can start playing poker if you want. I wouldn't risk it right now. Your on a thine ice, so take unnecessary risks.

How can you hope to live off of poker. If you were gosu @ it or something then shouldent you already have a hefty bankroll? Do you have any degrees or anything? If anyone could put in 600$, and play ultra tight, top ten hands and wired pairs only, and live off of that then middle class america would stop doing their 9 to 5.

I'm 23, I just haven't played because I didn't have a car, steady job, or credit card (to play online). I had planned to start playing Hardcore poker online after I met a couple goals such as getting a new computer and internet to play poker on.. I wasn't planning to live off it, but keep my main job and gain cash on the side. Then save up for a car and/or move out on my own.

My "life plan" is not to save up 600 , It was to work a regular job and play poker on the side.

P.S. Playing poker to win money as a job in a professional league doesn't sound so idealistic.

The day I graduated highschool my dad told me I was paying $400 a month for rent and car insurance on a car I drive but don't own.. (I'm now paying $200 a month to buy it off him). I'm just now being able to move out and into an apartment with friends. All while making $9.50 an hour.. =\ Life sucks but you just have to roll with it. Anyone who says to man up or don't be stupid and try to live off poker needs to stop being a douche and appreciate that trying to live pay check to pay check at a young age isn't easy (if you've been there and done that and still feel the need to be a douche at least make it constructive)

I agree that the best solution would be getting a couple of roommates and hopefully an apartment that doesn't suck too much. You can rebuild from there. Poker isn't a horrible idea to try because you don't have a whole lot of options. Even if you want to get a university degree it's incredibly hard for your situation. However you should forget about poker until you secure yourself. Even if you are good at poker it takes time to get to the point where you can regularly cash out significant money. Time you won't have soon.
