That's what I've been wondering.
I don't even know how Trump could interfere with the elections enough to make people not accept the outcome. Like if he disenfranchises millions with his bullshit mail-in voting rules and Democrats lose because of it, will they just accept that?

Making a deal with the USA, even a bad one or worse than you had before is better than not having one. This is why countries like Canada went through this process before. It was better politically to do so because your economy didn’t take a hit.
But now the calculus has changed. Trump insulting everyone and being so fundamentally wrong with basic economics has created a situation where even our furthest right won’t accept anything but a win from our leaders and we are willing to suffer a little to do it. We know he has no determination and can see him falling apart. Our leaders are simply using the fight with him to up their own standing and are going to wait it out or win. And they are not going to get punished politically because that is what people across the spectrum want.
He is the most embarrassingly bad negotiator of all time and the myth is broken because he is making these public mistakes on repeat, over and over. Hell some of his most loyal influencers are even moving on. The bubble pretending Trump is some sort of impressive man is ever shrinking.
Like even if you don’t hate the guy imagine your strategy to change the news story about something terrible and awful you have done, by doing another terrible awful thing (Epstein list- Iran war to embarrassing “trade war”). And his blaming Biden is getting harder and harder and harder for even the most rabbit holed people to believe. Especially when you control everything including the courts.

Don't get me wrong if you are transgender ftm or mtf I'll gladly call you by your preferred pronouns, but I'm not using pronouns that don't exist.
Might be a bit different here in that "they/them" are real pronouns just used for plural forms usually whereas in switzerland/france, the equivalent "iel" is completely made up.
Not to drag the convo back to this but just wanted to add that discomfort is part of it. It's a change and "for no reason" (for people other than yourself), so you can expect it to be a bit uncomfortable. I've been getting bludgeoned about the concepts since I was a teen thanks to progressive people in my social circles, and now as an adult know enough gender-nonconforming people for it to 'make sense', but yeah I can relate to the discomfort.
I mean I can't relate to the discomfort of coming from a gendered language where someone could ostensibly declare different pronouns for their table, but...
