The objective appears to be halting the Venezuelan government's backing of Cuba and Iran, but has total regime change been achieved? How is the U.S. ensuring the succeeding leader won't continue their support of the anti-American axis? The objective is to let American companies pillage Venezuelan oil in the grand tradition of Yankee imperialism in Latin America. It’s Trump, who is an absolute moron, and surrounded by complete idiots with the mentality and intellectual capacity of third graders, so they almost certainly haven’t thought through what would go on after they kidnapped Maduro and are going to ad lib from there. Good to remind everyone in that part of the world that the US are the enemy. They were just starting to forget.

But yeah lets just continue the cold war and make everyone hate us in the region again. I'm sure there will be no blowback for kidnapping a head of state within their own nation by military force and killing a bunch of people in the process.

Biden had done enough with the other nations in the carribiean to create a more profiable and more efficent oil industry with its neighbors. All Trump had to do was to present this evidence to Maduros backers and show how being friendly with the US was more profitable than being enemies. But yeah lets just continue the cold war and make everyone hate us in the region again. I have had so many discussions with friends from Chile and Argentina arguing that Russia is definitely worse than the US. I guess i stand corrected.

How is the U.S. ensuring the succeeding leader won't continue their support of the anti-American axis? The people of Venezuela will support a new leader and will want to get back participating in global affairs. There is tons of Venezuelans abroad that wish to return. The issue will be the "colectivos" (like small paramilitary gangs that kept Maduro in power locally. As well as the cartels, which are completely intertwined with the military and police. It is not a possible thing to completely replace your police or military and not like these people are going to be OK with just a regular salary and going to all the sudden actually enforce the law or whatever. Well there is little hope it will get significantly better for Venezuelans, with Maduro there was no hope. So I guess that is something.

Also in the eyes of most Venezuelan, if you are against the regime you are now a traitor that sided with an aggressor that killed their people and raped their sovereignty, so good luck to the opposition going on.

Oh but i agree, but i wouldn’t have many arguments to back that up. We are talking about two countries that have an imperialist attitude to their neighbors, use military action of countries don’t fall in line ideologically in violation of all international norms.

Look how many people Russia has killed compared to the US. Look at how many war crimes and crimes against humanity. Do not use false equivocation, don't be a GH.

When Americans were morning Kissinger death instead of wishing him hell’s hottest boiler where he belongs we should have realized. But we are taking degree of evil, and you won’t argue that successfully against most Latin American who live and suffer with American imperialism.

Same thing in Argentina. 30 000 young people thrown out of airplanes in the Rio de la Plata in the name of anticommunism by the US backed dictatorship. Most people see the US as the devil.
