I was reading about this earlier.

I have no idea how anyone can possibly support this. Its pointless and vindictive.

Actually trying to convince people that calibri is woke is so fucking insane you'd have to be severely mentally ill to go along with it.

Interesting reaction. The State Department under Blinken/Biden changed to Calibri with the explicit justification it had some kind of effect on visual accessibility for the impaired. This is not some kind of 250 year old constitutional norm Trump blew up. They used Times New Roman before and they're using it now. It's a font. That's all.

Yes, they changed it to a clearer font, in order that people can read it better.

Is that what you would define as woke?

Has anti-wokeness gone so far off the edge of our reality that they will make things less accessible even if there's zero benefit to be had from doing so, just to exclude people?

They chose it because they think it looks better and more professional, just like the prior administrations. You think there's zero benefit doesn't mean they think there's zero benefit. Whether you listen or don't, agree or don't, they still have a reason. They are thinking of decorum.

Woke is legitimately thinking a Republican document formatting choice is going to have any negative effect whatsoever, deliberate or not, on people's ability to read. Or that they did it with such malintent. Experts proved Calibri is more accessible to the visually impaired, but the Trump administration ignored them out of ableist hate, is probably going to take the cake as the year's most gullible deference to the authority of the blob. And it's a brilliant microcosm of what it must be like going through the world not even being able to register the existence of differing points of view.

This is not a ban on elevators and handicap ramps, dude. There are not legally blind people incapable of reading diplomatic cables formatted in Times New Roman who suddenly gain the ability to be a part of society when State Department documents use a different, 25 year old font instead. This is Times New Roman, not Babylonian cuneiform. Think about what you are asking.

And here comes Oblade to prove your point, rofl.

You would think his child molester president pardoning drug lords would have at least slightly shamed him into a temporary period of silence, but nope, full-on guns blazing in the "fonts are woke" culture war.

Does it ever get tiring being a lickspittle for such cunts? Why have you chosen this path?

Decorum? Lmao, oh my dear lord. They care about decorum now?

It’s ultimately inconsequential, but the reasons for the inconsequential change are asinine, as they always are with this admin.

Differing points on view, oh lord give me a break. What point of view? A font is slightly more legible to the visually impaired so we have to change it back, because that’s too woke?

It’s culture war garbage. Pointless posturing like the Gulf of America or the Department of War.

Who does this even appeal to? At least pardoning the Silk Road guy was clearly a nod to the libertarian types, although equally reprehensible.

But at least you can see a bone being thrown to a meaningful demographic, the fuck is up with this one?

I am waiting for Trump to say that they should "prosecute the Democrat auto-pen for treason" as the next outrageous pardon is revealed.

the appeal is the signal that this White House is "open for business". it's the pay2win presidency.

Is Hernández a rightwing guy? If yes, then that is the reason. They always go full tribal, defend your guys at any cost. Gotta make sure you win the culture war.

Also, bribes are not impossible. A guy who has 400 tons of cocaine probably has a bunch of money for the orange guy.

Also, once again: What fascists say they want isn't why they do stuff. They don't care about drugs, and they know. It is all just an excuse for them. I would go so far as to say that they fundamentally cannot even comprehend people actually having meaningful stances on issues that they care about. Or if they do, they assume it is a weakness.

The check cleared, that's why.

I mean, maybe you could contrive some sort of revenge against the American people for not forgetting about buying a sex slave from Epstein, but there have already been numerous stories about White House staff selling pardons for relatively paltry sums.

Like I said, the font choice change is just culture war bullshit. Exactly right, who cares about font changes so why bother changing it back to Times New Roman except for the fact your predecessor did a meaningless move that was already implemented and you’re just being intentionally spiteful. Yet this is exactly the sort of meaningless activity that this administration engages in day in and day out because they have no positive economic activity to crow about like during Trump Administration #1.

Its a good thing to discuss because it just exposes right wing nonsense by virtue of its existence.
Anyone with half a brain can see how needlessly cruel this kind of policy is and why, its the kind of thing the non partisan crowd will remember.
oBlade coming to its defense is the perfect result because rather than convince anyone to see the policy in a different light, it has just further undermined the entire right wing shtick they've got going on.

This is like the millionth example of performative right wing nonsense though, this is just another turd in the overflowing litter box.

it is rough out there people...

Americans' opinions on the state of the economy have not changed in one year. I concur with the over all poll result. Things are about the same.

The video goes on to talk about eliminating various forms of income tax. The most effective way to tax the rich is to tax their consumption. i like Trump doing everything he can to lower income in all its many forms. No tax on tips, no tax on OT... the yapping about removing income tax completely.

When it comes to taxing consumption tariffs are better than nuttin. However, i prefer a simple direct sales tax akin to Canada's GST. The government can better direct this type of tax.

It'll be interesting to see Trump's actions if teh Supreme Court rules against his reciprocal tariffs.

No, consumption tax does not 'effectively tax the rich' unless your specifically taxing very high end luxury, and then they just buy their yachts someone else instead.

A poor person will spend a higher portion of their income on 'consumption', then a rich person.
If you want to tax the rich then tax assets. stocks, real-estate, ect.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Well if you can think of a more effective way of taxing the rich then feel free to name it (other than capital gains taxes or estate taxes) then feel free to name it.

Tax unrealized gains the same way we tax real estate. Say a 1% tax on people with > $1B assets or somethings. Tax incentive stock options as regular income. Tax equity used as collateral for loans over a threshold.

A flat wealth tax sounds so much easier than a tax on unrealised gains. Tally up everything you own at whatever it's valued at on December 31 and pay the tax man 1% of anything over 500k. Can make it progressive if you really like and tax anything over 5m at 2%. In particular, it doesn't matter where that wealth is located. If you happen to have a few blocks of gold in a vault in Switzerland, that doesn't matter. You pay tax where you live. Similarly having a crypto wallet with a few bitcoins gets taxed too. Or Japanese stocks. Or real estate in Iceland.

You can obviously lie about your assets and your wealth. If the tax man catches you, get a walloping fine.

Consumption taxes just mean even more of the 90% who are already not contributing to total consumer spending will contribute even less to total consumer spending.

There’s like countless case studies in Japan alone who have hiked consumption taxes on goods and services numerous times only to immediately tank whatever recovering consumer spending they had because shit gets more expensive. You can try and say that it’s different because of XYZ reason but there’s like a 1:1 correlation between the Japanese government increasing consumption taxes and consumer spending taking an immediate hit the minute the tax is implemented.

Shit the Yakuza games even joke about how obviously self destructive consumption taxes are to any economy concerned with trying to improve consumer sentiment and economic activity.
