If you start the war before Maduro will do anything justifying it, like attack on Guyana or something, i will be cheering you all to lose and will be against any politician who will stand by US attack.
Sorry, I am not hypocrite.
We deserve all the same scorn and sanctions Russia is getting if we don't do anything to stop a child molester starting a war to distract from evidence of being a child molester coming out.

Just like I cheered every victory against the aggressor in Ukraine, I'll do the same if Venezuela is attacked.
And just to be clear, I don't think that Maduro is a good guy or should be kept in power, but getting him out of power is on the people of Venezuela, not Hegeth, Miller, Trump, Rubio and the rest of the ghoul parade.
Also, the probability of stuff being better for anyone except maybe a dozen of their closest rich friends after these guys take over is approximately zero.
It's approximately 100%. Maduro and his predecessor managed to destroy Venezuals's economy to such an extent that nearly 7.9 million left the country. That's more than Syria or Ukraine. I don't see how replacing Maduro with the opposition will not improve that.

I didn't mean "the opposition". I mean "Trumps gang". Look what they did to the US, and they are supposed to like that country. Imagine what they would do to a country that is full of drug-trafficking illegals who are also not white.

“How much worse can things get?” is not only an intrinsically poor FP heuristic, it has a provably poor track record as KwarK already pointed out.

I don't really see why the US's engaging in genocide doesn't already deserve those, but yeah.
I do wonder if people would actually celebrate US losses like they do Russian ones. I have 0 faith Europeans would force their governments to apply such sanctions under pretty much any circumstances at this point though.
The difference is pretty insane, and it’s not like we’re going back a century.
in terms of civility and level of discourse... it might as well have been a century. it did not start with Trump and he is in all likelihood not even the main force behind the degradation of norms, but he sure as shit heck is championing the downward spiral.
The White House launched a new page on its website
on Friday called "media offenders," listing news sites, reporters, and stories it claims misled the public.
The top publications cited as "media offenders of the week" were the Boston Globe, CBS News, and the Independent. Reporters from those outlets were singled out for stories about a controversial video released last week by six Democratic lawmakers.
The lawmakers, all of whom are military veterans or former intelligence officials, reminded service members they are not obligated to follow illegal orders.
In a video posted online
last week, the lawmakers said, "Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren't just coming from abroad, but from right here at home."
"Our laws are clear: You can refuse illegal order. ... You must refuse illegal orders. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution," they added.
US President Donald Trump called the lawmakers' actions "seditious" and "treason."
As someone who firmly believes Maduro is a plague on Venezuela and one of the worst leader in the world. I also believe that Trump military intervention is a bad idea and will almost certainly make things worse not better.
So apparently Trump declared a no-fly zone in Venezuela on a random tweet on his personal faketwitter:
"To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY,"
But apparently he forgot to tell his government or military.
"U.S. officials contacted by Reuters were surprised by Trump's announcement and unaware of any ongoing U.S. military operations to enforce a closure of Venezuelan airspace. The Pentagon did not respond to requests for comment and the White House did not provide any further explanation."
The fuck is this shit. Does he just love the attention so much? (Trying to distract from Epstein may also be involved?)
But like, seriously. Can these people not act like adults at all? Even if you think Trump would be justified in doing this, shouldn't you at least expect him to do it well? And if you don't think he is justified in doing this, isn't threatening to do it also a problem? Who are the people who are happy with the president of the united states acting like this?
I wonder what Trump supporters would generally say if tomorrow Trump posted to his truth social account, "Effective immediately, the balance in the U.S. Treasury is transferred into the personal bank account of Donald Trump."

Thanks, i somehow missed that. I guess the attention whoring spam is just too much for me to keep track off at this point, so i sometimes just skim this thread.

It's gotta be the case that either Trump is trying to get revenge because he felt personally disrespected by Maduro, or that Trump thinks that he can personally profit by messing with Venezuela.
The obvious outcome is that the USA does a bunch of air strikes and maybe some performative landings, which collapses the Venezuelan government. Afterwards, Trump forces Venezuela to make a deal that allows the USA to keep striking against narco-terrorists, deport anyone to Venezuelan prisons, and drill for any offshore oil. Some people will complain, but many will remain silent to avoid having trouble with their own issues. Trump and Co. will hold anything against anyone who dares to complain. The whole thing will be forgotten in no time. Only people who are considered anti-USA will remember it and bring it up later as an example of the USA acting aggressively.
Toronto Raptor's commentator who weighs about 160 lbs and is 10,000 years old took his usual 2 mile run through Central Park New York City today. How is this possible? According to Trump a frail old man would get mugged by 30 illegal south american immigrants.
In the 80s crime in New York City was 10,000X worse. It started to decline in the early 90s as the population started aging. Jerry Seinfeld used to talk about the rampant crime in NYC in the 80s a lot. He had his car stereo system stolen about 10 times. Seinfeld joked: "one time i wish they'd leave the stereo and take the car". The audience erupted in laughter.
i really like to get a different perspective on past decades thru old TV.

the oil requires a lot of refining. a metric tonne of infrastructure will have to be put in place to make that possible. Trump will be long gone by the time that becomes possible. The political will to flagrantly break international law will dissipate after Trump's tenure is over. The Supreme Court decision on tariffs will prolly go against Trump. If the Republicans want sky high tariffs they can argue their merits and pass them through the standard legislative process. Trump running around doing whatever he feels like will also be more limited after the mid-terms. The walls are already closing in on Trump.
If the USA wants to break international law they can just set up in the Atlantic Ocean and get oil almost ready made for use.
So the USA drilling for oil off Venezuala's shores ain't happenin'
Trump is trying to impact the USA on a long term macro level that a Prez can't accomplish. He uses all of Reagan's vote acquisition messaging.. 1) “Are you better off?” — the Reagan economic frame 2) Appealing to “the silent majority” 3) A clear villain 4) Immigration and law-and-order narrative
he might be better served behaving the way Reagan did as Prez.
"No Radio" signs in cars. "No Radio, Thank You". Let's be polite to the crooks "Sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Crackhead Sir". "Just steal the car and leave the radio ... to you know .. .break it up a little." Seinfeld is fucking awesome.
A friend of my dad's who was an Actor lived in NYC for 5 years in the 80s and got mugged 5 times. Golf Club, Baseball bat, any kind of weapon except a gun. Back then, any crime committed with a gun was a guaranteed 7 years. And, the criminals knew it.
EDIT: the actor's name is Chris Crumb. He is on IMDB.
all types of crime were far worse in NYC in the 1980s versus today. as far as violent crime goes: it peaked in 1990 with 2245 murders.
if you speak to older people like Jerry Seinfeld or my dad they'll tell you NYC is far more tame today than in the 20th century. Watch how Seinfeld jokes about crime in NYC during the first few years of his show.. so like 1989 to 1993.
watch this.. LOL. This is nucking futz.
the the 1980s you could never go to Yankee stadium in a group of less than 10 wearing a Toronto BLue Jays hat. You'll notice when they pan the crowds in the 80s it is very rare to see opposition logos. You put yourself in grave danger in the 1980s cheering for the opposition at a New York Yankees game.
The Toronto Blue Jays had this kind of "field rush" when they won, in Toronto Canada, as well. It was super tame and the kind, polite fans left the players alone. It was a night and day difference. NYC was a scarey place in the 80s.
