If he’s not telling us the most banal anecdotes that no one ever disputes because no one gives a damn, he’s sending us videos or articles that back whatever narrative his favourite social media influencers are currently obsessed with. Which no one bothers to dispute because no one wants to watch a 30 minute Asmongold video or read a medical journal article that we don’t have access to.
To this day he’s still hyper-fixated with predicting 2% GDP growth for the US. Despite not being an economist, not showing his reasoning, not showing his working out. He’s just saying 2% and trying to get people to bet against his claim, which no one does because no one here is an economist with the resources to properly dispute any figure.
Nevermind the fact that the exact number is utterly irrelevant and people/economists are more interested in the actual factors that make the current economic climate so difficult for the majority of the US.
Obviously it’s probably just a number pulled from some Bloomberg article he read but he’s desperately trying to use this GDP prediction as some weird appeal to authority. I guarantee he is going to rush straight into TL and brag about being an economic genius if the number is close to 2% and forever use it as a bragging point.

I know for a fact that D&D rulebooks during the TSR and early WOTC years ranged from $10 to $30 USD. I also know that a box containing 6x pewter Eldar Fire Dragons from Games Workshop was around $30 USD circa 2006, which we can use as an analogue for the lead miniatures he managed to fence.
So let’s just assume a conversion rate of 1 USD to 1.40 CAD, which is apparently the rate on this date in 2002. You’d need to have stolen around 476 boxes of those Fire Dragons to have $20,000 CAD worth of merchandise. Or 1000 copies of a $15 USD Dungeons and Dragons rulebook. That’s just to show the magnitude of stock stolen.
Most people would just ignore the anecdote because it’s pants on head stupid. But it completely collapses if you spend a second thinking about it. You’re telling me that the local game store isn’t noticing 476 missing boxes of Warhammer unit boxes? You’re also telling me your parents were so negligent or such huge assholes that they didn’t notice/care about the 476 boxes of stuff in your bedroom? Like I know Karl Pilkington is chatting twaddle about the Manchester estate he grew up on. There probably wasn’t a family in a council house with a horse in there, or a woman who walked around with a pram that held a bucket with a face drawn on it. But it’s more fun to think that there was. Also would recommend the animated ‘Ricky Gervais Show’ HBO made of the podcasts highly incidentally! Should be on YouTube.
My mental image of Jimmy is basically just Canadian Kramer. Odd, but quirkily charming and endearing.
