Everything becomes more expensive so people will start hoarding like Covid years. Might as well camp out at Farmer's Markets and try to get that shit straight from the source. Also, that people still can't recognize AI generated content (a lot more needs to be done to flag and label these things) is sad. What's also sad is that people think the US is a Christian nation. It's almost as if the education system has failed multiple generations. My school has a no-wearing-hats-unless-they're-for-religious-reasons policy. Yesterday, a 12th grade student came into my colleague's classroom wearing a MAGA hat. The teacher asked him to take off the hat, citing the policy (she didn't even need to mention the political message on the hat), and the student had the nerve to say "my hat is a religious hat, because I'm Christian and Christians support Donald Trump". (He'd never worn the hat before yesterday, nor any other actual Christian symbols like a necklace with a cross.) He was asked to take it off again by the teacher, then again by security, and then again by whatever administrator he was taken to see. He has a reputation for saying and doing incredibly inappropriate things - from making homophobic remarks, to harassing teachers - and he was almost certainly wearing the MAGA hat just for attention.

But man it is getting hard to contain my excitement. Hamilton county (Ohio) is at 65% reporting, D+2 right now. It was R+7 in 2020. Ohio always starts blue, early is reported first. A lot of these tweets are missing context. For example, in NV, Republicans were leading the early vote in returns, a thing that hasn't happened in a very long time. In 2020 and 2022 dems had a sizable EV bank before hand. So thr relevant comparisons are to previous elections, not stuff in a vacuum. Same in NC, where the GOP led the early vote for the first time. Same with the female/male ratio, and more women vote than men pretty much every time (partially expected, there are more of them in the population). Also friends don't let friends use early exit polls.

We all know that tariffs are a tax on the domestic consumer, a good is imported for consumption, the government applies a surcharge on it, the consumer pays for the good and the surcharge, the government pockets the surcharge. + Show Spoiler [Trump plan] + Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down, and I was, somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was so, uh, impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that, because, look, child care is child care is. Couldn’t, you know, there’s something, you have to have it – in this country you have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to — but they’ll get used to it very quickly – and it’s not gonna stop them from doing business with us, but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Uh, those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care, that it’s going to take care. We’re gonna have – I, I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with, uh, the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care. I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth, but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, uh, that I just told you about. We’re gonna be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care, uh, is talked about as being expensive, it’s, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in. We’re going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world. Let’s help other people, but we’re going to take care of our country first. This is about America first. It’s about Make America Great Again, we have to do it because right now we’re a failing nation, so we’ll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question. Thank you. Assuming approximately 1/3 of a billion Americans and trillions of dollars in additional revenues we can conservatively assume at least an additional $6,000 in taxes per capita ($24,000 on a family of 4). I think it's reasonable to assume that he didn't misspeak because he also said that this new revenue would eliminate the deficit (about $2t). Let's put it another way though. Total government revenue this year is about $4.9t. About half of that is from individual tax returns so about $2.4t. Trump wants to raise at least another $2t from individuals to balance the deficit. He's proposing about a 83% tax increase (2/2.4) on individuals assuming no spending increases. And we've all seen that out of control spending increases are what you get under a Trump presidency. It’s almost like the economically illiterate Trump is peddling economically illiterate policy to an economically illiterate base or something

All you can do is sigh and suspend the student. You're not violating any of his rights and you're "soft-disciplining" him. That's all you can do. I, on the other hand, would probably verbally abuse a kid. This is a strong case of Idiocracy becoming the norm in America.

I think even if Harris wins Florida by 5% with 100% reporting, I'd still struggle to fall asleep and assume Harris will somehow still lose. This kinda feeds into the point I was making that the problem you were blaming the "education system" for regarding this being a "Christian Nation" is somewhat insurmountable for schools without the help (or at least neutrality) of parents. In other words, I wasn't just saying schools aren't enough to educate our children—I was saying parents are often the impediment causing the problem you identified.

The only other piece of information I know about that MAGA hat kid story is that his dad is a super crazy MAGA supporter.

Doesn't look like either party had a hidden wave of support so far, but it's still early.

Rural areas getting redder, suburbs getting bluer. Florida's gone past its swing state status now. A firm Republican state.

Still not sure who that favors. Trump in that he was leading them, but Harris in that it means she's not going to do several points worse than they predicted like Biden did.
