Seen a lot of non-lethal gun abuse last few days. Some times they are just literally taking potshots at random people... I don't really understand what their purpose is in a croud control situation and how its better than a baton and shield.
When a baton line moves up to clear a street, you can get out of the way or get hurt. When someone shoots you with a rubber bullet, you get hurt then maybe get out of the way after. The hurting should not be the first purpose, the moving of people should. I feel like the non-lethal guns just create a lot of anger.
I learned about what a sponge grenade is when they hit a different reporter with it two days ago, I really wonder who saw a 40mm grenade launcher and thought, 'How we can modify this to use on civilians?'
And yes abuse with batons still happens of course but it's less 'built in'.

When you give police access to surplus military equipment someone is going to figure out how they can use it during their work.

The cops have categorically denied that it was their guy:
We are aware of the social media post that erroneously identifies one of our officers as the person caught on video breaking windows in Minneapolis. We want to be perfectly clear about this: The person in the video is not our officer.
Our officer has been working hard, serving his community, keeping people and property safe, and protecting the right to peacefully assemble. It’s unfortunate that people would post and share this untrue information, adding more confusion to an already painful time in our community.

Cops posing as protesters isn't a new thing and has been going on for decades. COINTELPRO is the most obvious of this in the US, but it isn't unique to the US even.

To be fair, there is no proof in the accusation either: You're not close to seeing the guy's face in the video. If the accusation is true however, it is incredibly bad. That is some scary shit. Are there other similar incidents recorded?

That's what makes provoking such a effective strategy. The only way to prove it would be to unmask him in the act, but you can be damn sure he's concealed carrying so good luck with that. The police also knows what he is doing and will come rescue him immediately.

The lie would be more believable if they left out the stuff about him protecting people's rights. That's a dead giveaway that it's bullshit imo.

It's really sad to see how the looting and destruction is impacting local businesses and communities. Sometimes it's the small things, like when Dianne Binns of St. Paul was unable to pick up medication for her daughter. Her words of wisdom: “What are people going to do in those communities when they need those resources? We don’t have many stores as it is. So why are we going to burn down the small business owners who are there for us?” Source
The sports bar of a firefighter and local coach was looted and burned down. The good news is that 611,000 was raised of a 100,000 fundraiser goal to rebuild. I wonder how much honest, hard-working people will have to pay to fix the mess left by rioting thugs. And this is in a time of business closures, when many people are struggling just to hold on to what they have.
"Minnehaha Lake Wine and Spirits has been serving the neighborhood since it was legal to sell alcohol, and run by the same family since 1983. Its vintage neon sign is an icon of the area. News cameras caught the looting of the shop happening early in the evening, and expletives spray painted on the exterior... Town Talk Diner possesses another iconic sign of the area, and has been a small family-run restaurant since 2016. This morning, the words, “Kill Cops,” are visible spray-painted on the front door, under the iconic sign. The restaurant had its windows smashed, interior looted, and chairs and tables strewn about." Source. Many more cases in the article.

Those innocent victims of these riots should be furious that it has come to this through years of peaceful protests being ignored.

I find it quite sad imo the systemic racism and abuse of police power robbing people of actual loved ones and not property that led to the riots in the first place.
Riots are a last resort for these people. If you're still focused on the damage, you're missing the point. They tried protesting. Entirely too many times. It never worked. They riot because people refused to listen to their struggles. If you're rushing to label them the worst of society, and laud Trump for sending in the army to shoot them down, maybe take a step back and ask yourself why they're really doing this. It ain't for shits and giggles.

Why don't you burn your own house and store rather than elect members of your community as targets for your demonstration. Why do you get to choose who suffers. What a disgusting and self-righteous mindset. It's like you can't even hear your own words.

I'm also gonna just mention the idea of "why don't these people protesting police brutality just brutalize themselves too?" Lol.
