Some are, many are also dying from Chinese lab synthesized fentanyl and its analogues (mostly carfentanyl). The poppies are also mostly in the Middle East, and many became addicted to opiates because of pill pushing companies and doctors, none of which have anything to do with the border.

So why are we taking resources away from drug and border enforcement to detain asylum seekers and slam their asylum requires through the immigration courts? Asylum seekers are not smuggling in heroin and they would be terrible at it, since they turn themselves into border patrol when they cross. Seems like a bad plan.

Street addicts are not invisible, and they totally are in statistics. And you cannot just claim that things are the way that you want them to be without any proof, and attack any counterproof at the same time. That is the way of conspiracy theories.
Basically, at this point you have only spouted unverified stuff without any evidence to it, and we should also just agree that stuff is true because you say it is.

Can’t say it’s accurate to say ‘democrats’, or indeed ‘the left’ but at least broadly speaking if not in terms of elected officials hadn’t it been largely the left who wanted to liberalise drug laws, end the ‘war on drugs’ as it were etc.
Which very much sounds like advocating for less government in that domain no?

An immigrant can't go back and bring in more heroin unless he first emigrates. You need to think this through. You'd ideally want one person on each side of the border who stays on their side of the border with the drugs travelling alongside regular goods imported legally. No need to smuggle a person in alongside the drugs, that's just adding complexity and you then need to smuggle the person back out again to do the next shipment.
