Keep the discussion ON TOPIC. This thread is for discussing the terror attacks in Paris. |

I can't find the exact quote but the statement is more along the lines of retaliating against the attacks and having to live with the consequences at home.

Because Paris has the biggest Muslim population outside of London, and England is such a complete police state that it could never happen there.

Maybe because of security failures? I don't know, I just know that Britain has stopped a large amount of terrorists attacks since the London bombings.
I think its unfair to say its a "issue" within France itself, terrorists will attack any country they can given the chance.

Terrible news coming from my birth place and my mom's hometown. My prayers go out to everyone affected.

Because we all know, there was no nazis anymore after Hitler died. But how about you explain how "a full force occupation and invasion" would've prevented this here attack. That'd be a start. How many countries did nazis conquer after hitler died. How many neo naziurders have there been since 1945. A lot less than were killed in Paris today. When the west was fighting Islamic terrorists with ground troops in Islamic countries there were two large scale terror attacks in the west: the London and Madrid bombings. Two in fifteen years. Western countries leave because they fought those wars stupidly and now theres been two possibly three in about a year. The west cannot allow this safe haven to exist in Syria and Iraq. It would take a huge army years to do it so it's almost certainly not gonna happen. But saying getting more serious about fighting Islamic state wouldn't have stopped this attack ignores the danger of waging a halfassed aerial campaign against them that has not done much of anything to their safe haven or their ability to fundraise, recruit, get supplies and carry out attacks.
I never said IS shouldn't be fought. I said your solution is unrealistic, to say the nice thing. In fact, your solution will provoke alot more of what happened tonight.
You're not up against a country. You're up against a worldview. That's something that can be bred in any country, even without ISIS doing it actively.

- claiming ISIS works for Saudi Arabia is insane, considering that the Saudis bomb them on a daily basis. I don't understand where people would even find this nonsense. There might be some rogue elements in Saudi Arabia funding them, but that's a very different thing. - Obama didn't blame anyone just like Merkel, Putin, Stoltenberg, etc. didn't blame anyone. People are legitimately worried, though, that Obama will fumble this response like he did the one to Charlie Hebdo where he nor Biden showed up to the memorial service alongside pretty much every other Western head of state, and they instead sent what's-his-ambassador Taylor.
The last bombing from Saudi Arabia on IS was in September. As all Gulf States, they completly stoped it since the Yemen thing got not only hot, but also the Saudi Arabian Offensive stuck in Yemen and after 6 month of intervention, they couldnt take the main city Sana as also the third largest one. They could only win the battle of Aden. It is not Saudi Arabia (or other Gulf states), who fund IS. But individual persons in Saudi Arabia spend money in IS and other terrorist organisations in Syria.

Killing unarmed, innocent people for your political goals will only ever put those goals further out of reach and serve to erase yourself from history.

I hope they kill all of them. Catching some of them alive would be more useful. The more infos you get, the better.

Final thoughts: this war isn't fought on the battlefield, or with AKs, it's a fight for people's hearts. We must resist fear; be brave enough to remain unchanged in our ways in the face of real danger. We must resist anger, and instead funnel this emotional energy into compassionate responses to those that suffer. We must resist hate and try to help those around us so that no person would feel the need to commit horrific acts of violence against another.

I disagree entirely, anything that lives will die. Islam will die, but all religions should die. They are outdated and foolish beyond reasonable belief.
