Elizabeth May impressed the hell out of me. I'll never vote for the Green Party , however, I suspect her performance during this kerfuffle has won her some votes. she is a bad ass.
I've said some pessimistic things about young people. I'd like to also offer some optimism as well.
Heartwarming speech yesterday by Mississauga's Bianca Andreescu . She started off 0-3. Gutsy performance. She handles herself so well. So composed. What a total bad ass.

I remember when i was ~16 there was a guy at my part time job who got picked up and dropped off by his parents every time. Sometimes his parents would talk to the owner of the Gas Station//Garage if they felt they were not "happy" about some issue. It was sad. The rest of us bargained for our hours and scheduling face-to-face with the owner.
Sure enough, when he tried to move away to university he had a "mental breakdown" and ended up going to a university really close to where he lived.

The Agenda is a great show that often covers Canadian politics and Canada's relationship with the USA. Steve Paikin is a fantastic political commentator. This was such a great episode of The Agenda I thought I'd post it here. It appears several users enjoyed it.
Its important for Canadians to keep tabs on what is going on with our #1 customer. The USA.

My personal anecdote relates to the comments made by Jonathan Haidt. As Haidt says at 5:00 in the video "very few families have 4 or 5 kids. Often families have only 1 child. It doesn’t really matter, since the city sets the rules of who gets funding for what. And being seen as supporting anti-transgender policies or organizations has done real economic damage to states and cities in the US because companies do not want to be associated with overt discrimination.
It’s a really dumb fight to limit services to a small number of people for no good reason.
There's a conflict within the ranks of feminism. A significant number of second wave feminists see this as males invading female spaces (again). This is the latest manifestation of that internal argument. Whether it's a good reason or not, I don't know, but the reason that I've heard is that women have already been traumatized by men, this is supposed to be a safe space for female born and yet "do not feel comfortable while in the presence of someone who used to live as a man." Other spaces could be provided for trans, but this is not the place. It's not arbitrary though as it is relevant to the recovery of their current set of patients.
They are commonly called TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) have a pretty contentious relationship with other feminists and trans gender rights advocates. Most of their advocacy is about denying transgender folks services or excluding them from feminist organizations, which is a pretty rancid form of advocacy IMO.
