edit: I didn't start smoking until I was 20. I'm glad I started smoking, and I'm glad I waited that long.

Counters to the arguement are the usual socio-economic stuff but no reason to not play on the safe side, I know plenty of kids that are just burnt out cause they started as early as 13( not sure cause stopped learning from being high all the time or actually cause weed detrimental to iq). Point is, just wait til your brain is fully developed to play it safe, then you can be philosopher smoker, and not the dimwit image people associate with pot.

As for the question in your second post, I would pretty easily give up weed for computer entertainment. I only smoke a few times a month though. Like others say though, with good moderation that's not a choice you should have to make or anything.

I started smoking at 14 yo (I'm 26 right now), I started heavily smoking at around 17-18 yo (around 12 to 25gr./week for a long period of time) and I'm having a hard time trying to stop it right now since it has been part of what I am and the way I live for so long... IMO if I started to smoke later it would be easier to quit since it wouldn't be something that important to me but right now I'm feeling so bad of not feeling THC running through me (feeling sad without any reason, being nervous, sleeping disorders and so on...) I don't believe all the results of the NZ Duke study that paper121 is talking about since so many things can be the cause of the lower IQ they found within their "cannabis smoking" group but as he said play on the safe side !! You won't become stupid by smoking as some ppl will try to make you believe but it can bring some behaviours that will make things harder for you as you get older and need to start studying/working hard. Some of my friends have high IQ but because they smoked too much they started to not give a shit about alot of things going on around them, they started to do less and less things becoming more and more passive and started to avoid problems by getting high. As a result even tho some of them are really clever they didn't achieve anything because of that ... Here are my own questions to TLers: Did anyone stopped smoking pot here and how did they made it easier with all the symptoms that I'm feeling right now ? How to handdle stressfull situations ? I guess part of my heavy comsumption has been the stressfull study and job that I have undergone and smoking weed helped me alot to handdle the stress but since I want to quit this isn't an option anymore ![]() And last thing: alot of my friends are still smoking and I know it's gonna be hard to resist when I'll see them blazing some premium quality weed... Shall I wait a little before starting to hang out with em again explaining them why or is there another solution? Any kind of help would be greatly apreciated !! Ps: pls excuse my broken english :D

Ps: pls excuse my broken english :D it sounds new-agey and dumb but meditation is pretty neat-o. as for the friend stuff, there were a few months last year where i had to stop smoking but it wasn't really that hard to watch my friends do it. plus, they are your friends right? if weed is the only reason you hang out with them and you cant hang out with them if you're not high, then something is wrong.

Ya but all those kids on the studies were smoking incredible quantities. Like wake and bake and smoke before bed. I think ur looking at this the wrong way, so uve never smoked, read this forum full of happy people and u think about starting to smoke. It is possible u will not like weed, i know some people who dont like being high and that takes nothing away from their awsomness. But trusting strangers in the web about doing drugs is never the safe way. Even doing a quick wiki look before u smoke might really be benificial to the trip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weed Try it, after the first experience think on it, and then decide if u want to continue or not.

I see both pros and cons in either choice. I started smoking when I was 15, I still smoke today but rarely. I would smoke more if I had the money lol. Im just not very rich. Thats a good thing sometimes, cus Im forced to take breaks now and again. Completely irrelevant story, I snorted 100mg of ritalin (anti depressant/ADHD medication) the other day, and wow.. It was just like mdma but I couldnt focus on more then 1-2things at once. 2 if I tried hard. I felt a huge urge to play starcraft but I was not at home so I couldnt. I bet I would have had like 400apm and no losses. And it got me thinking, I bet some pros take amphetamines in tournaments. I remember reading some post a while back about pros cheating like that. Anyway I had a good night but the day after I was absolutely wrecked. Worst anxiety and feeling inhumanly depressed. I can imagine how hard it must be to quit a heroin addiction. Must be much worse. I wont be taking ritalin again in a long time, if ever. But im glad I did.
