There is still a 4th person at large and i would like to read about that going into the thread than politcal debates which could be dealt via PM. I know you are talking about things that are kind of link with the attack but i would prefer if it was more about the last "chase" of the presumably white guy that killed the jogger with the same weapon as Coulibaly used in the suppermarket. I don't know if those rumors were infirmed or not (white guy rumor). Hope i'm not too Rude about this (pun not intended). But i feel those discussions are offtopic. TL;DR i would like this thread to continue be informative. Not closed. | ||

Tell me, how is this stuff allowed on US TV!? Are they really allowed to spread this hate speech? Are they really allowed to lie like that?(Hundreds of thousands christians killed in middle east?!!?) The way she smiles while talking like that.... fuck. I know I got warned earlier for posting a video of one of those freaks who think this a false flag attack, but this stuff apparently is on major U.S. TV!? | ||

There aren't many restrictions on what you can say on TV, besides decency standards. The major networks are on 24hrs and they can't fill the time with straight news so later in the day the put on 'personalities' that give their 'opinions'. To stand out from the crowd and get a piece of the market, these personalities say crazy shit just to be provocative / get attention / entertain people. I try to avoid the major networks for that reason and because the reporting in general caters to the lowest common denominator. The only network news I watch (infrequently at that) is CNBC in the morning, which is still quite good last I tuned in, though not as good as a few years ago (rip Mark Haynes). There are good news sources out there, like NPR sans a few activist sections, or WSJ sans the opinion page, but there's a lot of shit too. RIP in pepperoni journalism. | ||

There are no hate speech laws in the US like Germany has. That number for Christians is probably coming from multiple other sources which I found listed as 85k in the Middle East and another as 113k in Muslim areas of Africa and the Middle East. Sources included the Vatican and various human interest orgs, but I don't know how reliable they are. Never seen that lady before, but I don't have television so... | ||

I know it went off on a tangent, but it was nonetheless very informative. I agree, don't close it. I want to stay informed. Al Qaeda, ISIS vie for glory after Paris attacks A Yemen-based branch of al Qaeda is claiming responsibility for the terror attack against the French satirical weekly, Charlie Hebdo, but supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are also trying to claim credit for the carnage in Paris in what experts see as a competition for jihadist credibility. Intelligence officials said Said and Cherif Kouachi, the men behind the newspaper assault, received training and cash from al Qaeda, reports CBS News correspondent Wyatt Andrews. Sources tell CBS News that in 2011, al Qaeda gave Said Kouachi $20,000 to finance a future operation. Last Friday, just before both brothers were killed by French police, Cherif Kouachi told the French network BFM that their attacks were directed by al Qaeda. But then came the suggestion al Qaeda and ISIS were working together. Ahmedy Coulibaly, an ISIS follower who took hostages in the Jewish supermarket last Friday said on tape before the attack he was working in concert with the Kouachi brothers. "Some of this was done together and some of it alone, in order to have a greater impact," he claimed. Experts who track jihadist groups say it's likely Coulibaly and the Kouachi brothers worked together last Friday because they were friends, not because of an ISIS-al Qaeda alliance. Aaron Zelin of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy says ISIS and al Qaeda are rivals. "I do firmly believe, at the top levels of these organizations, they are definitely enemies," Zelin said. "It's clear that Coulibaly and the Kouachi brothers definitely teamed up, I think a lot of that is related to their own personal friendship and relations going back a decade." But Zelin also said ISIS wants to claim some credit for the French attacks in its quest for recruits and for relevance.
