Although this thread does not function under the same strict guidelines as the USPMT, it is still a general practice on TL to provide a source with an explanation on why it is relevant and what purpose it adds to the discussion. Failure to do so will result in a mod action. |
You're basically me with 10% toned down, probably a beta version

Half of the questions I would like to answer with: "I want that, but it shouldn't be up to me or any other single person to decide that."

You should answer yes to those then. Imagine the servey in the sense of what you would push twords as a part of a group instead of you as a singular god deciding these things.

I'm basically the same as RvB... which explains why I usually stop myself from commenting on subjects here when I see he's already addressed it.

What's wrong with this test? Half of you appear to be communist and I doubt that's the case.

Looks like we might head towards new elections in Italy. Any insight/precisions from someone there?

+ Show Spoiler +I like this tweet by Elon Musk:

I'm more educated about communism than you, thanks. My country was communist in the past, so I know more than you might have read in some books.

Communism is a vast political doctrine. In this test a majority for communism silmply signifies that you are for a public property of the means of production.
Capitalism is as well an ambivalent concept. In this test a majority for capitalism silmply signifies that you are for a private property of the means of production. www.politiscales.net From their website.

Funny how this description partly matches the one of socialism. They're used interchangeably by this test. I doubt all of you who got labeled as communists are for one-party political system. I doubt you want to live in a country like Cuba, North Korea, etc.

The self-description was socialist though, right? The goal was to establish communism.

Communism is the classless, stateless society that is supposed to happen eventually after capitalism is replaced by socialism for a while. It doesn't have to be authoritarian.
But if you want to put socialism instead that's fine, the term isn't what matters, the opposition to capitalism is.
|
Your theory might tell you that it doesn't have to be authoritarian. In practice, I don't know about any communist state which didn't start as authoritarian. At least in Europe.

Your instinct is correct, there are some outside of Europe that undermine your argument. But that doesn't really matter to this discussion because Politiscales is obviously on the side of theory, it's a test about your political thoughts...

Also, how a goverment/regime calls itself has hardly anything to do with what it is. North Korea, East Germany... Just to name two.

fuck what is happening in Italy is disgusting
one would hope that most of the people would realize that voting for the 2 parties currently trying to form a (ridiculous attempt of) government was one of the biggest mistake, but the truth is that is we went to vote again now, the extreme right would get even more vote..
seeing this happening to my country is like a cold shower at this point I really, truly, don't know what to hope for, m5s and lega nord embody the worst of italian politics.. I never thought, NEVER, that someone worst than years of Berlusconi would have come along, but here we are..
