LOL, I'm feeling the same way. The obvious choice is Theon, but Martin was always unexpectable and for some I just feel like it's going to be Ned.

It's Theon, now known as Reek. More importantly, It's been confirmed that Brienne will + Show Spoiler + not have any POV chapters, I wonder if this means that she really died at the end of AFFC.

+ Show Spoiler + It's Theon without a doubt. An old PoV character that returns but will be a bit worse for wear. I allready read his Theon chapter from Dance. It's Theon, there really isn't any need to wonder, it's just Theon.

Now, it is finally coming out; think I may be re-reading the books a third time (barring #1, which has been conveniently brought to TV). Ah well, the hardcover books are a perfect size to balance on the console of an ellipsis machine. ![]()

Which would also explain Catelyn frequently noticing that Jon looks more like Ned than any of the other children. Of course this is all speculation, and we probably won't find if there's any truth to it until much later. Who would even know the truth at this point, with Ned dead? Maybe Barristan as one of the only surviving Kingsguard from Aery's reign, Jon's wetnurse/mother killed herself didn't she? It would be incredibly epic if the entire series wound up being about Jon and Daenerys' journey to meet each other and save the world, at least I think so. As for the Starks surviving as a bloodline, I suspect Rickon will be kept somewhere safe for the rest of the books. Plus Bran, Arya and Sansa are still alive and kicking.

Plot speculation, don't read if you haven't read 1-4 or don't want to read possible theories. + Show Spoiler + Ned went to the tower of joy where Lyanna was kept with 7 people. He faced off against 3 of the kingsguard and only Ned and Howland Reed survived. Howland Reed knows the secret of the tower of joy and what happened to Lyanna (lost blood, died, could be childbirth gone wrong). Who happens to know Howland Reed? His two children that are travelling with Bran. I believe eventually the secret will be out when Howland Reed reveals it, the only person left alive to know the secret of wether or not Jon is the son of Rhaegar/Lyanna or not. For me it's even in the title. A song of ice and fire. Lyanna as a Stark is ice and Rhaegar being Targaryen is ofcourse fire. The song is Jon.

Keep in mind that this story is going to be like 8,000 pages long, so really the first half of the first book is like the first chapter of a "normal" book, where you're introduced to the world and the characters. About halfway through the first book, shit starts happening and then it never stops.

The first 6 chapters basically revolve around the introduction of characters that you will be seeing for the rest of the series. That said, there have been quite a big of interesting events and expositions thus far. A good portion of the story will continue to be told in an "epic" style as opposed to the constant "action and suspense" style that is the Dresden Files. My suggestion would be to stick it out, but if it's not your thing, then just watch the TV show.

So probably Theon. | ||

He's taken the identity of "Reek", he's being held and tortured by Ramsay Bolton. The chapter is quite disgusting, really made me feel sorry for Theon despite all the things he did.

+ Show Spoiler + The king is a womanizing drunk. Lysa's boy is a spoiled brat. Viserys just yells all the time, has no redeeming features. So far these characters don't feel like "real people". I'm going to read all the books so don't worry, but I hope it gets better.
