This has become like Harry Potter for me. I was so relieved when Harry Potter 7 came out, because I could stop worrying about J.K Rowling suddenly dying, leaving her work unfinished.
George is the new Joanne. He is not allowed to die before he finishes this story.
As someone who has read them both, Harry Potter does not hold a candle to A Song of Ice and Fire.

he was talking about how he cant wait for the book series to continue. He didnt make any comparative statements about the quality of the books.

+ Show Spoiler +Nah, I dont think Robert. Some theorycrafting I have seen and agree with is that he is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.

Only open if you've read the books. Regarding the Blackfish + Show Spoiler + I just thought about something: We've seen in the latests HBO episode that the Blackfish doesn't appear, and the producers said that he won't until the second season due to budget reasons. Now here's the thing: we all know that during Riverrun's siege, the Blackfish jumps out of the castle into the river to escape, and we the readers haven't heard from him since. I believe that by the fifth book which is coming out this summer, we will know for sure that Brynden is dead, stray arrow, drowning, the fall, whatever. By the time the second season starts, nobody will care wether or not the Blackfish is in the series since he really doesn't do much, so the producers, who had inside info from Martin himself, can cut him no problem. What do you think?

Not sure if this deserves spoiler tags, but better safe than sorry.
Third book + Show Spoiler +So im well into the third book and im pretty torn. The story is so amazing but all of the main characters dying is getting pretty depressing. If Ayra dies im pretty much done reading . Does it get any better or is this pretty much the trend of the books?

GRRM just posted an interesting write up on his blog detailing the process of writing DANCE. There's also info on which POVs will be in the book, so if you consider that spoilers dont click the link!

+ Show Spoiler +"The next largest chunk o' chapters belongs to an old POV character who has been missing for a couple of books, but now returns to us... rather the worse for wear." I wonder who this character will be

If it's + Show Spoiler +, I'm going to burn the book.

+ Show Spoiler +Theon I think, he hasn't had a POV since ACoK. Either he or Davos, though Davos had chapters in ASoS.

+ Show Spoiler +Theon for sure, especially if you read the preview. He's losing toes and fingers like crazy.
