I was always a bit pissed off that the end of the last book finished "Sorry I didn't cover all the interesting characters but I actually already wrote those and the book was too long so I decided to cut them out and put them in a new book which will be out very soon." Cersei, Ayra, Jaime and Brienne aren't interesting characters? News to me. I had the opposite opinion. I was glad to take a break from Dany, Tyrion and Jon Snow so that we could have some insight into what was happening in the rest of the kingdom. Getting to read the story from so many different characters perspectives is what makes this series so amazing and I really enjoyed all the Iron Islands parts of feast. I think it's great that he's introducing new characters and building stories for them so that they too can play pivotal roles in the upcoming books. edit: of course i can't argue that it is frustrating that he left us with the impression that the next book wasn't too far off but i was definitely happy with a feast for crows and thought it was one of the best of the series so far.

The Prince of Nothing trilogy is wayyyy good too. I started reading The Malazan Book of the Fallen and while the writing and the ideas are good I think his dialogue is complete crap, and there are paragraphs that I seriously can't even figure out what they mean... I've never had this happen in any book I've ever read. Also, the unfolding power hierarchy is spending way too much time trying to be more epic than the last power and has lost all sense of transitivity and logic. Example: Jaghut tyrant's power supposedly stored in acorn. Jaghut fights dragons without acorn with a leet undead anti-magic aura Imass in the vicinity and causes earthquake/volcanos for fun. Why is jaghut so powerful if jaghuts are mortal? But wait, THIS one isn't mortal since he was imprisoned in a tomb under the ground for 300k years... And if he was so fucking powerful, how did anyone imprison him, especially the other jaghuts who were supposedly pacifiists and later got killed by the tellan imass that the tyrant so easily enslaved? I can't even explain the actions of characters, they just seem weird and nonsensical. -_- Not sure if I will keep reading after this first book unless I can find assurances it gets better (it is #1 in a long series...)

I hope you like it. (For what it's worth, the book's a monster. Think A STORM OF SWORDS.) The dragons are coming. Prepare to dance. And hey... thanks for waiting. ―George R.R.
