how young do they have to be to not consent? you can pretty much convince a six year old to consent to cut off his hand if you tried hard enough, does that mean it absolves you of all blame when you do it? the concept is that it catches perverted old guys trying to take advantage of kids. i don't care if they have to lie to them all day, a billion of what you think are lies to them are worth one molestation stopped. its hilarious you think these sickos are being "seduced" i mean what the fuck are these middle aged men doing just hanging out in these chatrooms anyway? oh they are innocently discussing sports and politics right until a crazed horny sex loving 12 year old comes and seduces them?

In sociology we learn there are 6 types of victims, by the grade of fault: - completely innocent victims - victims who have aknowledge (bad spelling i think) of the dangers they are exposed to (firefighters, policemans etc) - victims with a slight guilt (let's say.. victims that have a provocative comportment, ie luring someone into commiting a crime) - the victims also commit the "crime" (cases of mutilation, suicide etc) - the victims who have same guilt as the commiter - the victims have a bigger guilt (cases of self defence etc) These categorys are also used by the juridical system. can someone tell me what "date rape" means btw? And luring a pedo is not the same as a pedo raping a child or going to him and offering something in exchange for money or stuff. Just like a girl has a big fault if she arouses a boy, and afterwards she refuses to have sex and gets raped. So imo what those guys do at that website is wrong, and i also believe the kids (the one who pretend to be kids) who work for them have some mental disorders. There are some mental disorders who apply to this actually. I dont remember the name actually but i remember hearing about it at some seminar and the doctor was talking as example of girls who have this problem and like to arouse boys and "get them hot" and leave them after just so they have a feeling of superiority.

for the people luring- intention: prevent sex acts on children action: lie to a potential sex offender to see if, when he is given the chance, whether he would commit a sex crime or not. but dont ever let him do it, just evaluate his intention. result: a potential sex offender is arrested/humiliated. the idea is a person with a high probability to commit a sex crime is prevented from doing so, so this should lower the rate of sex crimes for the potential offender: intention: unknown. we assume that in every case that results in arrest, the intention was to actually do the sex crimes he talked about. action: lead a child to believe that he is going to do some sex acts with him/her, but never actually do any result: get arrested classic example of failure of the system: some guy who is trying to educate the children. he leads them to believe he is going to do a sex act, but when he shows up seeming like he'll do it, at the last second he stops and tries to teach the kid why it was bad for him to be accepting it. an example like this might be important to philosophers, and to some individuals, but i dont think it's very important to the practice of law. the law generally has some guidelines of what kind of evidence is required to prove intentions. according to the law, certain probabilities are sufficient for punishment. philosophically, you can damn any practice that has any chance of making a mistake. on the other hand, you can argue that if the practice, on the whole, does something good (ie it actually does prevent more sex crimes than ruin peoples lives unneccessarily), then you can say it is good. maybe something like aquinas's double effect, or utilitarianism. the problem is you can't ever say anything for sure i think a parallel can be drawn to the death penalty. people are unable to accept it because of the chance that one innocent man could be killed. they want to know 100% for certain the man is guilty, but that's not really possible, so we cant use the death penalty. since this practice in capturing sex offenders is so shaky with respect to many lines of thought, it does not seem worth it to attach such heavy penalties.

it should be how we treat almost every other crime. we educate or otherwise protect potential victims, and we punish offenders when we can prove (according to the court) that they committed an offense. i guess the reason governments have justified their practice of inducing crime is because they believe it impossible to educate victims in this case (because they are children). but i think that's absurd.
