Yeah im using the surface for long time and its a really great pad - but i think it gets used up to fast...
What about all those new pads? are there some wich can really compete with the func?
Wich pads do the kor Progamers use nowadays? On the older lists ive seen nearly all used func surface/ktec/everglide ricochet...

Pls no comments like "i use clothpad that works too..."

Wha? I've been using the sUrface 1030 for 3 years now, it doesn't get "used up" at all. Just clean it with a damp towel from time to time (once in a month or so) and it will stay perfectly clean and slick. Oh, and I'm using the rougher side, dunno if this is not the case with the smooth side.

I have a QcK+ SteelPad (it's cloth, really huge) but I was considering buying a SteelPad 5L. Kind of expensive, but I tested one and it felt REALLY nice. This one is ok too, but it's too thin and I can't take it to lan-parties because of it's size. The 5L feels awesome. I have a Logitech G5, I don't know what mouse you have, but that one felt good for me.
Im not a n00b, I just play like one.

get a piece of aluminium foil, crumple it up and then flatten it out agen

use that as a mousepad and try microing. its the shit.
Yea that looks just like Kang Min... amazing game sense... and uses mind games well, but has the micro of a washed up progamer.

lol no thx ^^

@Mynock im using the other ("speed" / F10) side and i am cleaning it each month or so but i can see that the surface is used up in the middle MUCH more than on the sides where its nearly as good as new. it gets really slick there... and the mouse does not glide as well as on a new func surface1030
I think rougher surfaces last longer but i like the feeling of the fine one much more.

Btw i am using G1

I am searching for an pad feeleng as great and accurate as a surface1030 but a longerlasting one.

And once again: PLEASE DON'T tell me sth about ur great cloth pads, alu foils, woodtables or whatever they are NO option for me!

I use a table cloth as a mouse pad.

why?

It feels really comfortable and gives good grip. My optical mouse slides around too much on normal mousepads. When it gets dirty I can just throw it into the washing machine too.

how does it slide too much when your hand is on it? im imagining some 50kg mouse that builds up momentum and cannot be stopped by the strength of a regular man. anyway, there is supposed to be relatively little friction

Yup, funcs wear out, but after I got a qpad (medium friction cloth pad) I haven't gone back to slippery slick surfaces. (Like rough on func).

But if you still prefer that type of surface, you may want to check out steelpad.
I wouldn´t call him stupid, but let´s just say he´s unlucky when thinking...

never buy a glidetape pad, very "used up" after a year. And I am not even playing 2+ hours a day or similar amounts of hours.

i use x-ray thunder8
its like the func 1030, very similar to it.
i can imagine, they simply cloned that .
if you buy it, you also get a cool metal storage box.

edit: some hwtest say its very longlasting pad.
ive been using mine for a year and it hasnt let any print on it.
And all is illuminated.

GotFrag review of mousepads, probably weighted more towards FPS games but that isn't so important in mousepads.

I use a QcK+ but since cloth pads are "no option" for you I won't go into detail.

I'm using a mousepad I got from a Navy recruiter nearly 7 years ago. It's just a standard cloth image on the grip thing on the bottem. It has served me well, dont think you could find one though.

I can't use any kind of mousepad, they annoy me for the following reasons:

- Even the slightest height difference is annoying, my arm from the elbow down is on the table, i only move my wrist 1 inch to move over the screen. So my elbow would have to be on the mousepad as well in order not to feel an edge, and that would require a huge mousepad.

- When i'm gaming i sit differently from when i'm just browsing or watching a video. This would require moving around the mousepad all the time, which i of course dislike.

If they made mousepads desk-sized i might get my desk coated with it^^. Right now, i have this desk with a top layer made of some kind of hard rubber, which might not be as good as a real mouse pad, but it's decent and doesn't really require a pad. And my desk doesn't really wear out, i've had for 5 years now with hardly any sign of wear, although i am careful not to scratch the surface too much.

Get a new func pad, keep it clean and use some sort of silicone based speed spray on it from time to time. Should make it laster longer.

Funcpads and icemats are pretty big.

I'm never gonna know you now \ But I'm gonna love you anyhow.

Just something you gotta budget for replacing once every year or two. Func is the best imo, there are definitely others as good but its only 20 bucks and I feel really comfortable with the size and knowing exactly what I am getting when I order one.

I think the archetype is only bigger but has the same surface... and bigger would suck for me as i dont need a bigger one and also i dont have the space on my table for it ^^

thats how i do it right now...
btw just seen that u can order the 1030 now with f10/f30, double f10 or double f30 surface component. nice as i am only using the f10 side...
so next time i get a "surface1010" ^^
