Yes, read it a few weeks ago, left a huge impression on me and really got me into chess in a weird way.

Apart from certain a4 ideas to free the rook, it provides an escape square which is really important in this particular case. 30. .. a6 31. Rdc1 Bd7 (axb5 is definitely no good here) 32. e6! fxe6 33. fxe6 and black is forced into axb5 exd7 Rh6, which is hardly better for white. If instead he plays 33. .. Be8, white has 34. Nd4! and suddenly he's wining (34. .. Nxd4?? 35. Rxc7+ Kb8 36. Rc8+ Kb7 27. R1c7#).

They're not fully accurate, but they're the best evaluation you're going to get in a position like this (i.e. better than any human evaluation). Practically speaking though, the position is extremely complex. A lot of room to go wrong for both sides.

Oh, look at that, we got to almost the same position by transposition, except with a5 instead of a6. :D If the pawn was on a6, white would again have Nd4! here and would probably be winning. Because the pawn's on a5 however, the entire line doesn't work. The king has an escape square on a6.
