Dune II (you know - the one that kickstarted RTS games into reality because everybody loved it) is scoring abysmally at ~33%. Grim fandango (one of the best adventure games of its time) is getting a bad way too. Mass effect 3 is scoring big despite having been one of the biggest dissapointments of all time. And people are seriously voting FOR SOLITAIRE? These polls are making my head hurt. | ||

halo was the consummate game. amazingly fun to muck around on, running people over, flame throwering people, killing teammates with vehicles, shooting rockets across the map. but then it adapted perfectly to competitive play, requiring high skill and strategy. high skill especially on PC because the net code of that game was fucked, so you always had to lead your shots by quite a lot. even the bugs worked in its favour. people spent hours and hours glitching the game, getting into ridiculous places and making movies of it. so many hours spent literally crying with laughter. i still keep in touch with a lot of those guys too. it just makes me infinitely sad that i can never have that part of my childhood back again. so, as obviously no other game can compete with that, honourable mentions in no order: - goldeneye / mario kart 64 / zelda OoT / mario party 1 [n64 was my first console, once again fond childhood memories - i still play all these games, usually at parties] - duke3d [i can still appreciate how well made it is even today] - starcraft broodwar [never played online as a kid, this is mainly for its contribution to e-sports] - age of empires II [first game i really played a lot haha and probably also gifted with me with a love of history] - dawn of war [innovative, brilliant and flawed. unlike halo, the flaws in dawn of war, being an RTS, translated to serious balance issues.. which got worse with the expansions. still so much fun] - counterstrike source [was teetering on whether to include but playing this with my highschool mates made it] - runescape [the only MMO i ever played haha. once again, through childhood with my mates] well, that made me come across as the king of all nerds. looking back though, my only regret is that i can't return that corner of time and space. | ||

1) Christ strategy games have struggled in recent years, the 90's really were a golden age for turned based and RTS. There's not a single game on that list past starcraft 1, and that was 13 years ago. I would of thought that Shogun/Rome total war would of made it onto the list, but not even starcraft 2/Dawn of war or Company of heroes makes me a sad panda. And desktop tower defence? Go fuck yourself. 2) As others have said, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, the game that's probably won more critical acclaim than any other in history is missing. How in gods name do you miss the official Guinness book of records highest rated game of all time and various other top 100 games lists, from your list. | ||

51% for Deus Ex, 72% for the sims people don't know shit. I don't care about blah blah blah different people like different kinds of game. Deus Ex is one of the greatest masterpieces of storytelling of all time. Yeah the graphics were shit but the game was soooooo good. And then there's the sims. Fuck off, internet | ||
