Damn that sucks. How much does it cost to get one from overseas?

I think Xiaomi and LG would be more successful if they abandoned their Android iterations. Samsung has somehow managed to make TouchWiz work, as has Motorola.

Imagine going to a bar with a tablet, and you meet women. Oh wait ladies, let me whip out my tablet and get your Kakaotalk. Although...it could turn out entertaining for them.
Edit: Actually recent version might make battery life poor on this Haha well, I have had a serious gf for quite a while so not really too worried about that, but think I'd enjoy the novelty of it if that wasn't the case :D

What are you gonna do, carry your big tablet with you everywhere? How's that gonna fit in your pocket? I don't feel like that would be a big problem, just get a small shoulder bag and good to go... I often carry a sketchbook with me if I'm going to be on the subway or to get a coffee anyway, or I already have my backpack with gloves etc with me if I'm going to the gym etc... I guess slightly inconvenient if I'm just going shopping. Anyway, still undecided. I might just get a Note 4 (note 5 pisses me off because of no removable battery --- though I guess that's common in tablets too). The Note 5 did a lot of things that pissed off the Note fanbase. Chief among them being combining no microsd card WITH a 64gb only release. Notes are generally there for power users and to only have a 64 GB release internationally (only SK ever got the 128GB one and only then around 2 months ago) was a hilariously terrible move. I still have a Note 3, love the phone, and had been looking to upgrade to a Note 5 but simply didn't because I have more than 64 gb worth of stuff on the Note 3 and it's all rather important to me. Made the move to Note 5 not really fun. I don't want to rely on a cloud. The removal of the IR blaster was also pretty nonsensical. I forgave the battery because battery life has been really on the rise as of late and I carry around a secondary battery with charger with me anyway instead of just a charged battery. People could have gotten over most of those things individually but I personally think they shit the bed with the Note 5. They said they sold better than expected but never really revealed what they expected. I know of quite a number of people that didn't upgrade from the Note 4 or even 3 like me for a number of these reasons. I very very nearly jumped ship and bought an LG V10 and was going to forsake Samsung entirely but I decided to wait another year and see what they would do for the Note 6. If they listen to most of the concerns then I'll buy it. If not, I'm going to look for something else. They are damn lucky I like my Note 3 so much. Anytime I travel (which is a lot), I love having an extra battery with me. Lets me charge it in the hotel room while I'm out, helps me out if I want to use the phone a lot during the flight and no way to charge, just generally very convenient. Also means if there's something wrong with the battery, it's pretty damn easy to fix (plus a good way to hard reset phones when they really, really freeze up).

I think Samsung fans are not really aware / interested in the software side as much as the name brand / hardware / camera. TouchWiz has worked better recently because they became lighter on the bloatware.
For ex., I know a ton of ppl who are in love with Samsung's camera, or how pretty it looks. I haven't met a single person in love with TouchWiz, although some skinned themes might attract buyers (who aren't really aware of Android or OS)
That's why Samsung can sell their phones, because they're not focused on the software, and they don't try to attract buyers that way. The new Edge line did much better because it made the phones look much better in terms of aesthetics.
Most of the buyers of Samsung / LG / Xiaomi are from Korea & China, where there's not a big stress of pure android

Touchwiz with stock material theme is actually quite nice.

Ffs, bought a Google Nexus 5X phone two weeks ago. Two days ago everything was still fine, but today I tried to make a phone call again and the microphone wasn't working unless I put it on speakerphone. Apparently it was a common issue with Nexus 5 phones, at least according to my google-fu, but nothing suggested for it seemed to work for my 5X and most of it was related to headphones anyways, which I never use. Anyone have experience with that issue?

Seems stupid but, do you have a case ? it may be blocking the micrphone.

Nope. I haven't gotten around to getting one for it yet.

Been using my new Samsung Galaxy S7 for a week now, gotta say Samsung has come a long way. Touchwiz really is OK now. The phone is stupidly fast.
Battery life comparable to my oldish Nexus 5.
Haven't really played with the camera (which is supposed to be one of the best mobile cameras ever?), but really happy with the phone so far.

Perhaps what’s most interesting, yet not shocking, is that we still managed to find lag across the user interface, including random stutters and framedrops. Indeed, our go-to GPU profiling test showed many skipped frames when scrolling through the Play Store, significantly more than our 810 devices running stock or close-to-stock software (Nexus 6P, OnePlus 2). We’ve also encountered random input lockups where performance did not take a hit but we simply couldn’t interact with the UI for a few seconds (repeated instances on the camera app and settings menu, reported by two XDA editors).
I'm still hearing complaints about TouchWiz that are making me hesitant. I guess I may wait for Moto's next lineup.

The performance of the Galaxy S7 Edge so far is about what you could expect from a Snapdragon 820 powered smartphone which, coupled with 4GB RAM, provides a fast and snappy experience. That being said, there is the occasional lag that’s typical of Samsung smartphones and while it’s not a deal-breaker by any means, it does lack the fluidity of stock Android. http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s7-unboxing-and-first-48-hours-678421/

It's interesting because my Galaxy Note 8, which had a lower powered Exynos, never had the animation issues other Android devices had back then. Or maybe it's the same level as it was on the Note 8 and everything else has just gotten better.

Odd. I've been using my 5X for 3 months now without a single issue. Perhaps you've installed some weird app or something?

I'm very conservative when installing apps and a factory reset hadn't had any effect either. I'll probably send it back this week. I've read a few reports that it can be caused by dirt/dust in the microphone, which causes the noise reduction algorithm to go haywire, though I can't imagine how that could have happened. According to some google results you can fix it by rooting your phone and changing some config values to disable noise reduction, but I really can't be arsed to do that just to get my phone working properly. Hopefully a replacement phone won't have that problem.

Ill miss Michael Fisher reviews on Pocketnow ;_;
I think the S7 its a damn fine phone, but with phones with comparable specs but much lower price i have a hard time justifying pay that much, not to mention i dont get phones on contract anymore, rather paying up front or in installments using my credit card (or whatever the english word for "cuota" it is)
same reason that while i would like to have a 6s because of how powerful it is, the price is just way too much when you can find phones that have comparable, cameras, performance, etc... for about half the price

After reading that I BELIEVE I noticed some framedrops, but I am not even sure. Definitely no input freeze, much less lockup of a second or more like what that article describes. I would love to have stock android as well (my Nexus 5 is among the best purchases I ever made) but from what I can tell so far the Samsung UX is nothing like it was on my old SGS3.
Took some pictures, best I have seen from a camera phone so far.
