So, someone ALMOST stole my X Pure edition about 3 weeks ago, the problem is that when i catch the guy he dropped the phone and the screen died , had to "live" with a S5 with CM13, the horrors rofl (Well, much better than just buying the phone again i guess)
bought the replacement from aliexpress for $60 and 3 weeks after it was at my door, and replace it today
it was easier than i thought it would be, got the one with the frame installed already, and follow a youtube video, the biggest problem was being able to find a T4 torx screwdriver. I was expecting a madness inside, but its pretty straight forward, almost like buiding a PC (except, you do have to use brute force at some point lol)

I tried Google Play, they do not show tv shows in Switzerland
It's quite impressive how hard it is to watch a tv show on android in switzerland, specially compared to how easy it is to do in IOS / itunes.

Good job Google, good job
The Nexus and a plethora of cheap Android phones are yearly reminders that good stuff ain't cheap, and cheap stuff ain't good.

First international phone from xiaomi (we that means)
this is a pretty damn exciting product. I bought a phone from Letv recently, filled with some rubbish chinese bloatwares but other than that, it is a super solid phone given the cost. If I were chinese, those features actually would be really cool.
My current phone is dying and I'm looking at what to buy next... Kind of thinking of skipping a phone and just buying a tablet. I barely call anyone, just Kakaotalk... And having a stylus + bigger screen for drawing would be a big plus for me.
If I get a tablet with a data plan, what are my options in terms of still being able to use it as a phone? You can get a phone # via Google Voice, but only in the US.
Skype let's me get a phone number here in Korea, but from all my searching it seems like I can't actually receive texts sent to that number, which seems really useless since that's one of the few reasons I would want one (authentication codes sent via Steam and the like).
Anyone here have any experience with this? I've tried googling but hard to find relevant info.
you can also make calls over IP using a combination of skype, fb, whatsapp, hangout and facetime
another option that I'm not too familiar with would be to use a dual sim device and have one card for data and the other for prepaid voice/text to keep the costs down
you get a phone number with your data only plan so you can make phone calls (check your local pricing)
Tbh, given how little I use my phone, this could be enough... 90% of my phone calls go something like: "Where are you, I can't see you --- oh 2nd floor? OK" *click*
Not to mention Android its so BAD with tablets, Its like such a waste of space.
The only tablet i would say worth getting its a Surface or an Ipad which actually has some desing based around them, most android tablets are downright worthless because they lack a full fledge OS to take advantage of them
Wow the LG G5 has a second version for SA and other countries, one with 3gb ram and a SD 652, and wont be able to use the 360 VR. We are not getting the real 820 one (Europe, USA and Korea aming ithers are getting the 820 one)

I don't feel like that would be a big problem, just get a small shoulder bag and good to go... I often carry a sketchbook with me if I'm going to be on the subway or to get a coffee anyway, or I already have my backpack with gloves etc with me if I'm going to the gym etc... I guess slightly inconvenient if I'm just going shopping.
Anyway, still undecided. I might just get a Note 4 (note 5 pisses me off because of no removable battery --- though I guess that's common in tablets too).
Yeah note 4 is big enough to kinda work as a mini-tablet. Plus it's good battery life. It's one of those things that you say now, oh its no problem, but later down the road, you will be like, I don't feel like carrying my bag today.
Imagine going to a bar with a tablet, and you meet women. Oh wait ladies, let me whip out my tablet and get your Kakaotalk. Although...it could turn out entertaining for them.
Edit: Actually recent version might make battery life poor on this
The next few months are going to be awash with virtual reality news. In a couple weeks, we should learn a lot more about the Playstation VR. Then, nearly four years after we first tried the Oculus Rift, it’s finally going to be officially released on March 28th. Not long thereafter, HTC’s Vive will also finally be released to the public. These three headsets represent some of the most exciting technology anybody’s tried in the last few years. They’re powerful, immersive, and may finally have games and apps that are more than just tech demos. And if that’s not enough VR for you, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 is also getting released next month. It's the latest phone to work with the company’s Gear VR headset accessory.
So get ready for an ocean of VR news, and the next month is just going to be the start. Because after that wave of VR news, another one is going to crash: Google will almost surely make VR the center of its annual developer conference Google IO, which is happening on May 18th. The company is widely expected to move beyond its early experiments with Google Cardboard and into the next phase of VR. The big question is whether it’s going to look and feel more like those expensive, high-end headsets or more like Samsung’s less powerful but more portable mobile efforts.

The Note 5 did a lot of things that pissed off the Note fanbase. Chief among them being combining no microsd card WITH a 64gb only release. Notes are generally there for power users and to only have a 64 GB release internationally (only SK ever got the 128GB one and only then around 2 months ago) was a hilariously terrible move. I still have a Note 3, love the phone, and had been looking to upgrade to a Note 5 but simply didn't because I have more than 64 gb worth of stuff on the Note 3 and it's all rather important to me. Made the move to Note 5 not really fun. I don't want to rely on a cloud. The removal of the IR blaster was also pretty nonsensical. I forgave the battery because battery life has been really on the rise as of late and I carry around a secondary battery with charger with me anyway instead of just a charged battery.
People could have gotten over most of those things individually but I personally think they shit the bed with the Note 5. They said they sold better than expected but never really revealed what they expected. I know of quite a number of people that didn't upgrade from the Note 4 or even 3 like me for a number of these reasons.
I very very nearly jumped ship and bought an LG V10 and was going to forsake Samsung entirely but I decided to wait another year and see what they would do for the Note 6. If they listen to most of the concerns then I'll buy it. If not, I'm going to look for something else. They are damn lucky I like my Note 3 so much.
The biggest problem with the Mi5 are (imo) MiUI (which its easily fixed, except for...) and the problem with unlocking the bootloader, they are now a real pain in the ass to upload (needa to apply, say why and wait like a month if you ever get accepted)
