As a previous Moto G user / current Moto X (2013) user, I'd have to say I'm moving away from Moto phones this year. They look cheap, bulky, and matches the price point. They have bad cameras. Other than that, they are near stock android, reliable, snappy, and tends to have good battery life.
Moto X Play is probably the only one I would've considered, but Verizon is exclusively releasing it as a Droid - which means it will get tramp-stamped with Verizon and receive annoying bloatware.
I really wish Moto X could develop premium-looking bodies like One Plus Two has...and OPT is cheaper too, so I don't see why they can't make a better exterior than cheap bulky plastic.

I still can't get over how the nexus line refuses to include micro sd capability. Was the major thing that turned me off when I got a new phone several months ago, being I carry tons of movies and tv shows on my 128gb micro sd card, plugging my phone into tv's via hdmi in hotels and such.

Take a Chromecast with you?

Holy hell the new Sony Z5 Premium is making me partially regret my S6 edge+ purchase. Did not expect this from Sony.

That's a...weird thing to say. The cameras of moto phones hadn't been all that great, but they are now rocking the 21 Megapixels Sony sensor and they improved the processing a lot too. Everyone is saying they are great now.
And about the "premium looking boodies instead of cheap burlky plastic", I mean I guess premium looking is a matter of preference, but you have the option to have wooden and leather backs (or at least had with the leather), and the moto X has a metal body just like the one plus 2, so that doesn't make all that much sense to me unless I misunderstood.
Now addmiteddly the moto G isn't very premium, but it is still a good cheap phone.
Anyway how do people around here feel about smartwatches? I keep telling myself I don't need one, but dam: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3jfkbp/moto_maker_for_moto_360_is_awesome/

I don't know how much they improved in their new line but the high number of MP doesn't mean it's gonna be a good camera. Going by their previous shitty cameras, I'm going to reserve the assumption that their cameras are gonna remain crappy unless proven otherwise.
Premium-looking would be like a full-bodied aluminimum or metal, like how iPhone 6 looks. That screams premium even though I'm an android fanboy. Removeable backs, regardless of wooden or not, still seems cheap to me.

Then the OP" would look cheap to you, but you said it looked premium..

OP looks semi-premium even though it's not full metal, because of its metal sides and its full finished sleek look. Yes it still has a removeable back, and doesn't look at premium as an iPhone 6 looks, but this is just my opinion

I've had the Note 3 for 2 years now which is slightly bigger than the S6 Edge+. It fits easily in all my pockets with absolutely zero problems. I don't wear skinny jeans or similar though so if you do then you may find it too big to fit in those.

The LG-made Nexus is coming at the end of the month and it will be slightly more expensive that the original Nexus 5.
A source close to the matter has revealed to us details about Google‘s and LG’s plans for the new generation of the Nexus 5 smartphone. The source warned us that this information is not final, and as such, official details may differ, but we feel very confident in the veracity of this report.
First up, our source confirmed that the new Nexus will be made available in the Google Store from September 29. Both the LG Nexus and the Huawei Nexus will be offered at this point. This confirms a recent report from CNET, as well as an older rumor from Korean media.
The LG Nexus will probably go under the Nexus 5X moniker. We say probably because a decision on the final name has not been taken yet at Google HQ. That name makes a lot of sense: it allows Google to keep its “Nexus #” naming convention, while signaling that this is a new device in a much more intuitive fashion than by adding a “(2015)” or “(2nd gen.) suffix.

Unless I misunderstand how chromecast works (basically just provides a wireless connection from device to TV), I still need a large bit of memory on my phone to store my huge tv/movie collection.. which is the main problem I had to begin with. That and I move my micro sd's (I have several 128gb ones I switch out depending on what I think I will want to do/watch, each nearly full with different content) to different devices quite a bit to add and share things.

Nice!! The new Samsung phones look so modern and high tech.

Definitely agree. I have no problems with the lack of removable battery/storage. My usage of my phone has decreased from my studying days to my working days so I don't come close to draining the battery dry, and there are actually reports that the 3000mAh battery outperforms the larger Note 4 battery due to improved software and a more efficient processor. Touchwiz actually looks nice, especially since you can just choose the Material theme from theme store. It's incredibly quick, and I don't multitask/swap between 4+ apps often enough for the aggressive RAM freeing thing to bother me at all.
I can understand that the new Note 5/Edge+ are not for everyone, but they are incredibly good phones. All I'm waiting for is Samsung Pay to come to the UK.

But the movies would be on Google Play under My Library, hotels etc I'm sure would have their own WiFi...? No need to download I would imagine.
