This is a tragic event. Let's not derail the thread with a gun control debate. Posts from page 9 onward will be moderated for steering the discussion towards gun control.

Here we are, page 39 and you have "UK WOULDNT HAVE THOSE GUNS" -.- Not the right time and place. For me, this is a really odd thing to say. If there is anything constructive that can come from a tragedy, then it is learning how to prevent it in the future. If gun control is one of those things that can help to prevent something like this from happening on this scale, then it needs to be discussed. I think that gun control is one of the things that should be discussed. But I think what is also important, is determining what is wrong with this person psychologically and if there are enough systems in place to detect and take care of people who are mentally unstable. You own TL forums? I didn't know, maybe you should ask your moderators to remove the big headline saying "don't derail into gun control debate" Relax...I am not going to start a discussion about it or go against the mods, I can understand the mod decision to not allow such a discussion because it will just derail in anti-America talk. All I am saying is that it is good to learn from a tragedy to prevent it in the future. It is the same with aircraft crashes, oil spills, buiding collapses, fires. So why not learn what things to fix from a shooting?

Wrong, the source was the NYC Police Comissioner, and has been refuted by the Aurora Police Chief. So unless the Colorado police have worse info than the guy in NYC, he didn't. As I have said multiple times already. [EDIT] NBC/ABC/FOX will post anything. Stick with the local channels who are directly talking to those involved.

I don't see how the NYC police commissioner would have any knowledge in the issue. It is out of his jurisdiction. I see it as a joke in bad taste.

Ah ok, just read that the Colorado police "would not confirm it" so its maybe still possible they will in future. Will see i geuss.

So I guess its not 100% that the rumor is false, but pretty close. Could be they just wanted to stop all the speculation that would happen if that were the case, but more likely is that the NYC guy heard a sensationalist rumor and spread it since he is known to do that for attention.
