This is a tragic event. Let's not derail the thread with a gun control debate. Posts from page 9 onward will be moderated for steering the discussion towards gun control.

Edit: yeah seems true ![]() CBS just tweeted: CBSDenver @CBSDenver We have learned the name of a second person dead in the shooting. 27 year-old Alex Sullivan was one of 12 people who died. Damn it. He's the one that gets me the most.. I've been following the news on him extensively all day, looking at relatives Facebooks, Twitters, and everywhere on the Internet to see if there was some way he made it out alive. There was even an article an hour or ago or so saying he was putting up a fight but it got taken down within minutes as they figured out he had passed. And then seeing the picture of his dad.. man talk about heartbroken. I'm 20 so I don't know anything about parenting, but I can't imagine how much it hurts to lose a child. The look on his face says it all.. everytime I think about it, I get tears in my eyes. The excitement in his Twitter post that he was gonna go to the movie and have a good time, but all it takes is one bad person to screw it all up. Yeah it was false unfortunately :/ his cousin on Facebook posted about how the police confirmed him as dead. Misinformation sucks, but with these circumstances it's pretty understandable. But man gotta feel bad for his family/friends getting their hopes up ![]()

No grief about son or victims, no wonder the guy was messed up. God bless the victims in Aurora. What is there to say? No don't arrest him? My thoughts and prayers go to the victims? Words don't really mean much when your family member/friend is dead. I don't blame her for not saying anything. I wouldn't want to hear "I'm sorry my son killed your brother" personally. Maybe I'm odd though.

And frankly, her reaction really isn't important.

Do people ever figure out why assassins and people massacre go on shooting sprees like this? It bugs the hell out of me that I never find out the reason why someone would commit such acts.

There is a really great movie quote that I feel is relevant on multiple levels. "Some men just want to watch the world burn." Such a sad and upsetting event. My thoughts go out to the families.

I suspect that this case may be something similar. Either that or a strong dose of insanity.

That and some kid started screaming "I'm going to shoot everyone" in the middle of the movie which got him arrested. This ordeal's having quite the effect.

Disclaimer: the following spoilered opinion may upset some forumgoers, it is a point of debate rather than an expression of condolences, although my most sincere condolences do go out to the victims and anyone closely affected; so if you are particularly sensitive I'd advise you avoid reading it. + Show Spoiler + Aside from the whole ability to kill each other so remorselessly and selfishly, I actually find the bolded behaviour one of the more upsetting facts about us...the only way to get communities to show any deep sort of love for each other is when a maniac murders a portion of them or there is some sort of crisis threatening the life of the nation. And even then, the only murders that will do that are ones that are sufficiently horrific and happen to their own kin. I remember I saw about a bridge collapsing in somewhere in East Asia that killed 350+ people, it was like page 7 in the news and given a paragraph, and stories about gigantic Eastern European slavery/prostitution rings are consigned to similar pages, whereas our media for years went on and on about one single girl who was probably kidnapped in Portugal (Madeleine McCann) due to her woefully negligent and incompetent parents, giving it front page after front page, mainly because she was white, blonde and British.

I wonder if he took influence to Breiviks acts? I mean these people used to kill themseleves after they were done. Breivik used this to spread his messed up message. I wonder what reason this man had to do the killings and then stay alive. He must have planned something. It's a good thing they got him alive, now we get to know why he did it. Do they have the death penalty in Colorado?
