You only use those kind of weapons for one thing. Dont understand why america allows people to buy those kind of weapons legally. Hunting? I'm particularly confused since you're from the UK - you guys practically invented skeet shooting.

No more deadly than a mini14 which doesn't look military style. That you can buy anywheres in north America. They are hunting weapons and are not fully auto. Just because it looks like a military weapon people get their feathers all ruffled. Secondy handguns are much more deadly due to ease of concealment.

This thread is not the place to delve into it though.

Yes, there are laws against using low powered rifles on large game due to suffering caused.

Are you trying to justify being able to buy those kind of weapons? You can pm me if you dont want to talk about it here though.

A) It isn't a military M16. It's a civilain AR-15. B) The AR-15 is not functionally different than any other semi-automatic rifle. Semi-automatic is only different from bolt-action in that it reloads for you, you still have to pull the trigger again to fire again. C) As noted above, large rifles are preferred and sometimes mandated for hunting to prevent animal suffering D) Shotguns have been used in skeetshooting for a century - it's an olympic sport

They go bonkers over anything that will sell well, no matter whether it serves the public interest or not. We do not, I repeat DO NOT need to hear the fucking 911 calls. I would honestly not have any problem with stories like this not even making the national news. All the guy probably wanted was to make the news. It serves no one to give it so much attention in the media. I would actually be ashamed of myself and my profession if I was a journalist today. I agree.. it's disgusting.

As I think I've said earlier, Channel 9 has been doing a pretty good job. I've noticed that local news almost always handles major stories better than major news outlets.

Those things are killing machines. Imagine if it was a bolt action gun, would he have been able to kill/injure as many people as he did? probaly not. But yeah this will just turn into a never ending arguement and probaly not the best place to talk about it here. Just angry that fuckers him are able to kill so many innocent people. I didn't see anyone going over to the Norwaymassacre saying "Well... pesky Swedish allowing that to happen" or insinuating that in some way is Americas fault bad people exist. 360+million people, bad shit happens. EDIT: Hell ... I'm usually one to condone America for its shit actions, and bash its foreign policy, but this instance you are really out of line.

For me, this is a really odd thing to say. If there is anything constructive that can come from a tragedy, then it is learning how to prevent it in the future. If gun control is one of those things that can help to prevent something like this from happening on this scale, then it needs to be discussed. I think that gun control is one of the things that should be discussed. But I think what is also important, is determining what is wrong with this person psychologically and if there are enough systems in place to detect and take care of people who are mentally unstable.

You own TL forums? I didn't know, maybe you should ask your moderators to remove the big headline saying "don't derail into gun control debate"
