Craigslist ads for cars (or I guess ebay ads and such too):
1) just because you spent $500 on a spoiler, $650 on a new transmission, $1,000 on lowering it 6 inches, and $60 on new blue headlights, does not mean you can add them directly to the KBB price of your vehicle. You can spend thousands of dollars on your '96 civic, it's still never going to be worth more than $3,500. Don't whine about how much you spent on it. A buyer should not bail you out on bad investments.
2) going on about how great your car is, and then at the very end of the ad, mentioning, "Oh, the block is out, you just have to put it back in, and it's good to go." Fucking bullshit, either drop the price that should be on a running car, or put the block in yourself. And why is the engine out at all? Could it be... it's a lemon???
And in the same breath, slipping in at the very end, "it just has a gasket problem/rod knock/blown gasket." Oh, so all it needs is a new fucking engine, or if I'm super lucky, an extensive costly rebuild? Sweet!
3) The ad looks great, the car looks great, so you call up the guy. Guess what? The title isn't signed! Or the title "hasn't come in the mail yet." Or "it's signed by the previous owner, you just have to fill in the date." There's either something very shady going on with the vehicle, or, you were too cheap to register the vehicle in your own name and pay sales taxes or tabs. Filing for loss of title is a huge inconvenience, it can take a long ass time. Not to mention if it turns out the car is stolen or salvaged... you're fucked.
It's upsetting because you can basically count on a good chunk of the population looking for an opportunity to fuck his fellow brother over. This is why the 99% will never rise.
And people give us car salesmen shit. At least we aren't as bad as the general majority of private sellers and are bound by certain rules & regulations

People who bitch about learning math. "That's what calculators are for!" "When am I ever going to use this? Can't I voluntarily not learn some elementary numerical logic?" "When am I ever going to solve for X lolol" One thing I'm observing more, as a former tutor and a grad, is not only are people resisting logic and any amount of work, but people are resenting math because it has some absolutes (please, no number theory stuff, I'm talking basic shit here). If you have this kind of equation, this is the only solution. To find the solution, you can use any or all of these steps. If you do this every time, in this pattern, you will always be able to find an answer (or prove no solution, whatever). So much of math until like proof based classes are all pattern, rules, and checklists, they require very little "outside the box" style analyses. There's little whiff of anti-intellectualism because they value crap like apple products, starbucks, social media, and whatever latest trends and products far above self improvement and knowledge. Good thing we're cutting more education spending and make college unaffordable for the have-nots. That'll do the trick.

Oh for the love of... listen I am all for gay marriage or civil union or whatever you want to call it. Personally, I kind of think it's odd or abnormal (it is as it involves way less than 5% of the population) but I don't care what happens behind closed doors and i don't think it will lead to any degradation in the moral fabric of humanity. However, don't you see that you, who are so outraged and irate by people disagreeing, have in no way proved yourself a more enlightened or intelligent human than those kids in the photographs?
Look, I don't think there is a person in my entire continent, let alone my country, who would have 100% the same opinion as I do in all matters of state or personal morality, but I do recognize that they have the same right to disagree with me as I have to disagree with them. Being hateful over them being unlike you is putting yourself in the exact same situation as those kids who are trying to affect others' lives because they disagree with them. It's stupid. Why would you let yourself get worked up and hateful about people not thinking like you do? If you were brought up any differently, as those kids were, is it so unbelievable that you would not think dissimilarly? I mean at that age most people haven't really defined who they are. They are still an amorphous blob, shaped by their environment but with no real form or ideas of their own.
The easy explanation "I don't agree with gay marriage, so I am going to tell other people what they have to do with their lives" is equivalently stupid to "I don't agree with those people, so I fucking HATE THEM!" tldr; please people, be more respectful when disagreeing with people. Don't get worked up or think they are stupid because they disagree with you. People are people everywhere and deserve to be treated as such.

See, but that's kind of my point. These kids are just spouting off what they have been taught. I would think if God had told man to love his neighbor or whatever and leave the judging of the eternal soul to Him, then it would be a better way to deal with people to try to explain that. God may not condone that behavior, if that is what you believe, but isn't it His place and not yours to define that? Oughtn't we love and treat all equally and not try to rule for Him?
And that may or may not work to get people to look at the issue in a new light, but whatever the result, I wish people were more open to talking through issues and less quick to shit on each other for being different, weather sexually, racially, or religiously.

Comcast. Fuck you Comcast. You raise my bill over and over and over for 3 fucking years until I'm paying $145 for basic cable and broadband. And then,.... AND THEN! You can't even fucking provide consistent internet! My connection was out for around 10 hours yesterday. And you fuckers do all this because you know there is no alternative, it's a complete monopoly. I've looked for companies that can provide internet to my place to get rid of you bums, but they don't exist. Fuck you Comcast.

What grinds my gears is people who complain about Comcast without having a clue how the service works, what needs to be done if there is a problem, and wants to bitch about the pricing but has no idea what's involved, but instead takes the easy way out of blaming a faceless corporation instead of addressing THEIR OWN problems, or taking ownership of their own issues.
Yeah, fuck you too.

In the San Diego jurisdiction Time Warner is super reliable at 180 a month for the basic + tv dvr maxed (so max tv).
Why is this? I don't know. However it's funny sometimes in the desert to call in when it does break and find out about a storm over in San Diego (not at all far) and see blue skies overhead but also, tw is competing with fios out here, and Comcast in San Diego. So they're really trying to keep our business. I think this is what jd is referring to, he wants the broadband suppliers to get desperate for his business. Problem: because of the competition, people who worked for the old GTE branch in the 90's really did not fare well. And those using GTE had to let Verizon, who took over the area's GTE coverage, hiked rates super high...
Broadband is broadband. It doesn't grind my gears. What does is hold lines where the people on the other end are pissy regardless of how you act.

It is disgusting to see it used in team games, even more so in real life. who did that? I want to find the man who gave that apology and........................Shake his hand You know what? I agree. IT IS NEVER A FUCKING OFFENSE TO EXPECT PEOPLE TO ACT OUT THEIR FULL POTENTIAL I mean, obviously if you have expectations way above someones level you gotta curb that shit. But expecting people to do the shit they're well able to is fucking fine, and if you get mad about it, you're a lazy slacker. It isn't about expecting people to act to their full potential and getting mad about it. It's about being an absolute prick in delivering that message. One could say "I'm really disappointed in the way you handled that, I thought better of you," and deliver a very impactful message that might actually inspire someone to do better with themselves. The message above serves as nothing but a way for some jerk to vent, typically will not be received well (or with anything but disgust and resentment), and will serve nearly no purpose in changing future outcomes. I'll agree that most people are overly sensitive: I think you should be able to flat out tell people when they fucked up, and how to do the job better next time. Like, in my line of work, if someone overlooks a very simple process, and escalates it to the next support level, I should be able to say that behavior is unacceptable, and they need to shape up. The only reason that should make someone mad is because they got caught being a lazy shit stain and got called out on it: they should be mad at themselves. But there's still a line that has to be drawn somewhere, and taking your anger out on someone because they made a mistake, in such an overt manner is almost never the best way to handle a situation (granted, if someone is repeatedly doing the same thing, and other methods are not working, maybe it could be beneficial... or maybe that person needs to be thought of as less/fired in a work scenario). Also, agreed with whoever said they dislike when people speak in memes. I have some friends that talk like that. "I gives no fucks," or "I can has," or "I has xyz." Stupid. I'd actually expand that to say that it's a mild irritation when people bring the internet culture into pop culture at all. I think it's because I was part of it when it was all really starting to bloom, and these people are just riding the waves of popularity, and in some sense I feel like they're stealing from us. It's like when your favorite band sells out to make some crappy music for a couple of albums, and everyone loves them and is a bigger fan of them than you are. The internet used to feel like a secretive club to me, where inside jokes came about very rarely, and meeting someone who knew what you were talking about was kind of exciting... now, ever asshole on the planet knows what a lolcat is, and they tell me about it as I haven't seen this stuff since its inception, practically. I guess it's just a part of me that felt like there was a real sense of community and belonging, and everyone being in on it has kind of killed that feeling for me. Actually, I was not referring to people expecting more out of you, I hate it when people use that excuse to cover for themselves. For example, we all know that guy in LoL/DotA who is pretty awful but thinks he is amazing. He blames the team despite doing horrible and when people call him out for being a prick, he apologizes by stating that he expected more out of the team and is disappointed that no one could meet his pro-like standards.
I am not talking about the teacher who looks at your F and says you can do better, if anything, the teacher is doing you a favor. He deserves a handshake.
Another pet peeve, people who cannot format their own posts.

I don't hate them because they disagree, I hate them because they are happily ignorant. They are the lowest fucking denominator of the human race. They do not aspire to utopia, they do not aspire to understanding, they do not want to be superhuman examples of perfection. They don't aspire to any form of greatness of mind or moral, they merely want to happily restrict their fellow humans from living their lives because of a message from their imaginary friend.
Fuck em. Fuck em all.

So in Washington State, there's a gay marriage bill/initiative/whatever up for vote. I HATE election week because everyone just gets catty and argues. So at work, here I am outside, breaking. Then comes up 4 other people. Three of them immediately start arguing about gay marriage. I told everyone, sternly, to drop it, right now. They did. I can't even repeat things I've heard, because they're so infuriating. From both sides. And pass or fail, I will probably have to listen to more arguing for at least another week. If we all strongly disagree, and we just want to be right and obviously have no interest in being open to other opinions, then we all have nothing to talk about. Keep it out of the workplace.

I have extremely strong political views. Just not between the hours of 9 and 5.
Don't understand people who feel otherwise. Even if we're in the same party, we're not going to agree on everything. Why even bring it up? There's no reason to add yet another reason to dislike the people you're forced to spend 8 hours a day with.

Seriously, take that shit outside. Most people are fucking dumb and have no reason to think what they think other than MSNBC/CNN/FOX told them so, and they've never bothered to look into any of it with even the slightest hint of objectivity. Shut up already.
The only acceptable discussion at work at this point is who is in the lead tonight, imo.
