There was one guy talking about a Mid-Easterner that came into his store with a press pass on after the RNC. He said "I was a little worried about that guy... why are they over here interested in our politics? Made me wonder if he was planning something." [Note: This is pretty much the most blatant nonsense I've heard in the three years I've been doing this garbage.] I'm thinking, you've got to be shitting me. How can someone be so unaware that the entire fucking world watches the politics of other countries? Our elections have an impact on the rest of the world in several ways, just as the direction other countries choose will have an impact on us (through economic and foreign policy, etc). How can anyone not be aware of that and understand that we'd have foreign reporters at the DNC and RNC? Unreal. Keep that shit to yourself. | ||

I think you misunderstand, the key reason for legalising drugs is harm reduction. These people tend to show less respect than locals, and frequently drop in/snake/waste good waves. They also like to litter the beach and generally just create a bad vibe. | ||

 Rant regarding the US election incoming.+ Show Spoiler + In the last weeks I got bombarded with infos regarding the US election. German media, who loves Obama was all over it. Every little detail was shoved down my throat. If you have a TV and like to watch news from time to time it was impossible to avoid. Additionally there is the internet. I was confronted with literally insane right wing drivel/opinions etc. on all kinds of boards/homepages all over the fucking net. Partially it was so insane that it made guys like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck or other rightwing nutjobs look like communists. Gladly the US elected Obama. Not that he is no right wing hack. He just has another paintjob and is more softly spoken in comparison to "traditional" right wing nutjobs. His drone policy murders thousands of civilians in rural areas of a country which is not aggressive towards the US. The majority of the local population is illiterate and doesn't even know that 9/11 ever happened. Yet they get killed for it. Some time ago the US administration murdered a 16 year old US citizen in Yemen. His crime? His father was on a kill list. Then asked about it by journalists one of the administration's top dogs simply said: "Well, he shouldn't have been the son of a terrorist". Yeah you read that right. Kill minor citizens because of crimes done by their father. In Germany this was considered normal under Nazi rule and called "Sippenhaft". This is the new progressive in America. Think about that. Also closing Gitmo, hmmpfff forget it. The youngest prisoner in Guantanamo was 12 years old and had to endure 7 years of torture before he was cleared of all charges by a court in 2009. Of course the progresive US administration heavily protested. They would need more time to collect proof. Yeah, you only had seven years to destroy the kid's life, give him some more!. Obama is basically the same warmonger than his predecessor. Unlike Bush jr. he doesn't get ridculed and critisized heavily by the rest of the world. Is there any rational reason for that? I don't care if he fails to induce the promised change in topics regarding inner politics of the US, like drug laws in America etc.This is none of my business. But at the point where the US engages in other countries affairs, kills thousand of locals and screams "liberty" while doing so, the rest of the world should protest and make clear that this kind of actions should not be supported. What happens? This guy gets admired in the western world. People are fans of this ruthless warmonger. Why? May it be because we totally lost our moral compass, killing and going to war became normal again. We are blinded by soft and compromising speech, the actions behind that speech become totally unimportant. We are back to embracing our ignorance, proud to be blind. | ||

How do you react in this situation without looking really awkward and weird? My solution was to tell them to fuck off, which just made me seem like a jerk. Better than blushing and trying to ignore them which was the alternative. | ||

They obviously lack a certain amount of experience in that area, so maybe you can provide that for them? ;-) Another common gear grinder: people 'selling' their religious views door-to-door. (Or any other method, for that matter) I mean come on, you think I've never heard of Jesus?? I'm not a terrible person in real life, but I literally slam the door in their faces without saying a word. Screw those people. I'm not a believer in any form of religion, but I really don't care what other people believe. Just keep it to yourself and stop bugging other people about your believes. It's called respect. Doesn't it say enough that you need to go out and 'convert' people? I bet if I go door-to-door selling my 'god-doesn't-exist'-view I get kicked in the teeth before I reach the end of the street. | ||
