However, the people that are interested in this are way more likely to have a PC at home than a TV so Im not sure who their target audiance is. I prefer to watch it on my computer where I have more freedom compared to TV. It is the network paid for by the state aka the tax payers, so they show stuff for everyone even if the audience won't be that huge. It would not have been picked up by any of the commercial channels.

Good news but the problem is they will have absolutely horrible swedish commentators like last time

Lets hope they've got enough brains to use english commentators.

Well, atleast SVTs are better then the ones aftonbladet used, but yes they should really use the english commentators.

Why english? If you want the english commentary just watch the free HD stream with day9 or mr bitter or whichever excellent caster they are sure to get. I think it both makes sense and would be fun and interesting to get to hear swedish commentators for once (if you chose to! remember you can still watch the free HD stream with excellent english casters if you prefer)

Great news, will have my TV on for this.
just a quick note, NRK (norway) did air css a couple of years ago, it wasn't live tho.

As long as they don't have ignorant reporters on site, which they do have from time to time, I'm all for it. This will hopefully make more people understand that there's more to it than just the game.

I never really watched it, but I think they did show some eSports before. Now it only exists online. The ESL bought the studio off NBC's 18h a day electronics and internet show "Giga" when they got shut down. NBC Giga showed e-sports live on TV but never in the form of constant tournament coverage. You could technically count that though. They even had a real "Giga e-sports" show. God I miss Hannes and Etienne XD Yep, they showed Broodwar, Warcraft 3, CS 1.6, FIFA 20XX and other stuff on free TV, live as well as recorded(the games). There was no real tournament coverage, but events like the IFNGs were enough, imo. And back in the day, there were barely any important tournaments going on anyway.

Because the whole experience that is Starcraft can not be fully appreciated by "new" people if it's some random shitty swedish guy around his 20's with 0 knowledge about how to explain SC2 to a broader audience. And also because anything in swedish just sounds dull and boring(though this is my personal opinion ). Have you ever listened to swedish commentators in hockey or football? I come from a multi-cultural family and it's just sad to watch events cast in swedish cos there is just no "flare" to the language, because swedish is un-bendable(I'm sure there is a academic word for this, when you can say the same word in like 20+ different way). Listen to some of the english hockey commentators or spanish soccer commentators and you have a WHOLE DIFFERENT experience, this is exactly why SC2 has to be cast in english by people that do it for a living on a regular basis and are professional.

What he said.
I basicly just want the non-followers of the SC2 scene to get a good first impression of it, and not one with some really bad swedish commentators (All I've listened to have been terrible).

While it's true that the swedish casters are not as good as the english casters I don't think the quality of them matters that much since first time viewers won't be able to tell the difference. The broadcast will be directed towards people that are not that familiar with Esports. The focus should be in getting first time viewers to understand and appreciate the game. A friend of mine got into sc through SVT's (or was it AB's?) broadcast of DH winter. While he didn't understand all that much he got very interested. It was easy for him to understand since it had the casters explaining everything in Swedish and the production was nice.

Well, Swedish state owned television is known to broadcast crap very few people care about, so this is hardly a suprise. If we're lucky it'll help e-sports gain some new fans, but I'm sure that's women's floorball fans were hoping as well.

They are also known for having the most viewed channel in the country(or maybe TV4 is right now) and the most viewed shows. Here are some numbers from last month: http://mms.se/_dokument/rapporter/manad/Månadsrapport_2012-03.pdf
But we don't know if it is on SVT1 or SVT2, it might be on SVT24 or something which would suck.

Haha the concept of actually seeing SC2 on a TV screen seems surreal to me.

Is there any way to watch this from the US? Obviously the normal Dreamhack stream, but does this channel stream from a website or anything?

They will have their regular web feature (SVTPlay) showing the tournament as usual. Also, svt.se/esport will also show some coverage, though I'm guessing it will be in Swedish.

Pretty sure none of this is available for people outside of Sweden. At least it's the case for SVTplay.

Hey, so DH is now over, congratz to Thorzain for getting another major 1st place, he deserves it and probably needed it more than any other non-korean player. Must have been some kind of national pride for Sweden having a Swedish player winning this event. And considering it was broadcast on national TV, eSports and SC2 must have got a pretty good exposure for the Week-End.
Does anyone knows if videos of what was broadcast on TV are available? Was it the exact same content as on the stream? Was there a mention of Thorzain's victory in any Swedish news program on Sunday evening?
Shortly said: does anyone has got any feedbacks concerning the exposure the event received on Swedish TV?
