People are free, but you can't seriously sit there and say everyone has equal opportunity in 'the land of opportunity' we call ourselves.
Actually, you probably can.

Can't say I disagree with that point.

Last time I checked, you don't get to choose what family you're born into. It is not the job of the government to ensure equality of the starting point.

When you personally have a parent who went from living in their car to owning 4 homes, it is very difficult to deny that anyone can succeed with enough work. Of course, a basic degree of intelligence/health is necessary.

Biden was less bad then ryan, Ryan was not the smart fast charismatic guy i was hoping for. Biden came across pretty well, though i didnt find him inspirational either. Just an old man ,part of the establishment who know and seen it all, your typical washington politician.
O and last think i like to add.
Romney is absolutely right for wanting the auto industry gone bankrupt. Why keep subsidising thoose shitty cars noone in the world outside america buys. Its a bottomless vault, and It goes against the core principles of capitalism and free market. If government has to give stimulus and help the economy so badly, then at least put it into a sector your country excels in.

I do not care how hard Usain works, I will still win the race if I start 10m from the finish line and he starts 100m back.

Even the lefties here are admitting the moderator was biased and Biden was over aggressive with Ryan's time. But they are happy about it so they won't complain much. I think the first debate taught us that a good strategy, in terms of optics, is to screw the moderator.

I will say this. I was very disappointed in Ryan's performance. He should have been better with many of his answers. Yes, he had a really rough set of circumstances to deal with, but I still expected more.

The idea isn't that you are given anything it's no one is holding you back. YOU can go out and get a job and work your way through school. YOU can create a new product. YOU can do pursue your heart's desire like everyone else before you. And just like them the one thing you are guarrenteed is the chance to do it for yourself unimpeded.

About hard work:
I studied for almost a month for my orgo test. Knew the book, the practice questions, lecture material and old tests. Got to the test, died. Pulled a 69 (which was the average score).
Studied for my financial accounting test 5 hours the night before and 5 hours the day of. Got a fucking 98 on it.
Not a perfect example, but some people are better than others at somethings and better at some things than other things because of what they were born with.
The best analogy I've heard is that Romney (as the quintessential rich dude) was born on third base and is under the impression he hit a triple.

i think you are really over stating "antics". sure he interupted a lot but lets face facts, thats standard fare for a debate like this. the fact ryan couldnt call him out on bull means either biden was 100% accurate, which is unlikely, or ryan isnt quick witted enough to reply, or ryan doesnt know the material well enough.
take your pick. but if you honestly believe a guy like ryan was just trying to play fair i think you are misguided.

Biden killed it. In my view they both made decent points that will be picked to pieces by partisan fact checkers for weeks to come but Biden was super on message when it came to advocating Obama and his policies. Ryan, while he had a few good policy moments, always seemed to be talking about his or the republican party's platform rather than specifically referencing Romney. And when he did it often seemed as an after thought.
If vice presidential debates have any influence at all (which I somewhat doubt) then this will be as much of a score for dems as was possible.

Everyone still has the opportunity to succeed, just because some are born into better situations doesn't mean those who aren't don't have the opportunity to be successful.
